Hi Paterson,

In Settings and Cellular, you can see what apps have been using the cellular data by scrolling through the page. If you see a elevated usage in Chrome or Safari (web browser your son uses), it is to note that watching videos may be the cause of the data overages. If you establish that it is the web browser, then you can also open up the browser and see what websites he has been visiting, sometimes certain sites require a lot more data. Especially sites that have a lot of interactive content.

From the same menu, you can restrict apps to wifi that shouldn't need to use cell data. I have a few that I log into wifi when I arrive someplace to update (games, podcasts).

Hey Paterson! Mathieu and Briana are right, it's very easy to monitor your data usage by checking each app individually! Did you update to iOS9?  If yes, turn off the Wi-Fi assist in cellular since this will use your data when connected to a slow Wi-Fi connection.  Let us know if this helps ! -Melissa
