Ray, the only thing that has changed is how much you pay for data overage. You still have no data included in your plan. Before November you paid $0.75 up to 256kb of overage data. Now you pay the same but for much more data, up to 10mb. You will also now receive notification at 50% and 90% of use, which you didn't before. It's all part of our shock-free-data promise.  You were communicated this via SMS last year. Hope this helps!

@rayhaw: Postpaid plans always have access to data, even when your plan didn't include it. Only prepaid got automatic datablock.

From Bernard response, I believe you only to pay maximum $0.75 for 10MB and data is blocked from Koodo as per shock-free-data control. You will have to agree to the text to let more data consumed after that. I don't see it is a bad thing though. You also could try to turn off data in your phone to block data yourself.

But here is the problem I don't want data bottom line, Koodo has the ability to block it, and there is no reason why they can't just block, as this is not what I wanted when i got the plan the fact that it is available is fine but I never signed up for it, listen that's lets leave it at that now I have to make a dicision to either go with a voice only plan or just get rid of the cell all together

This is Koodo's way to block it for you.  If you "accidentally" use up to 10MB, shock free data blocks it automatically.  I think they implemented this 10MB limit since they cant block automatically with 0 data on your plan.  If you ignore the text messages, you will never be charged for data

@Ray, you can block data on your phone. This doesn't cost you anything. The feature that you are referring to from Koodo is $2 a month. While it will block data it won't limit sending picture messages. Voice only plans only mean that they don't have any data included but is available on a pay-per-use basis. Meaning, data is not blocked.

I understand how you feel though, and if giving up the phone is what's best for you, I totally get it.

All the best!
