If the app is force closing itself, then its a hardware/software issue and not a Koodo network issue. If you haven't already, turn off your phone and turn it back on. If it has a removable battery, take it out for 30 seconds after you turn your phone off and then put it back in and turn your phone on. This essentially "refreshes" your phone.

Have tried turning the phone off and it doesn't have a battery. Not sure what else to try

Another option to try, go to: Settings > Apps - swipe to the left until you see 'ALL'. Depending on which messaging app you use, scroll down and select Messages, (default Android messaging app) or Hangouts, (Google's messaging app). Tap on the buttons, 'Clear cache' and if not greyed out 'Clear data'. Try sending a text or picture message and let us know if this fixes the problem.
