My phone over heated while plugged in and now it won't charge.

Is this covered in the one year warranty or is it time for a new phone? Also I have two phones each with their own tab. Can I use the tab from one number and put it towards a phone for the other number?nthey are on the same account.

Hi Tabitha,

Turn the phone off and remove the battery (if possible), let it sit a few minutes and turn it back on. Usually a quick restart will get a phone charging again. 

If never hurts to send a phone out for warranty work if it's still within the first year, if it's not covered by warranty you get a call with the quote that you can deny and not be charged a thing if you prefer going with a new phone. 

As for the tab, it depends. I am going to assume you have an older tab (Tab Small/Medium/Large) which means either way, before upgrading it you will need to pay it off in full. You can then get a new phone on a new tab. They won't let you activate new tab on line 1 when the phone is activated on line 2 at the kiosk. However, you can active the new tab on line 1, and then swap the SIM cards around so that Line 1's SIM is back in the old one, and Line 2's SIM card gets put into the new phone. This may require you purchasing a new SIM card for 5$ and transferring the account to the new SIM if the sizes mismatch.

Usually this is an indication that the battery can no longer hold a charge and needs to be replaced. Batteries are covered under the manufacturers' one year warranty. If the phone doesn't have a removable battery, it will have to be sent in for service. If the battery is removable, call customer service from a landline phone 1-866-995-6636 (option 5) and request a replacement battery be shipped to you.

Are all phone batteries for phones sold by Koodo covered under the 1 year warranty? I know that they are if they're not user replaceable. I had a recent experience with a manufacturer (BLU) where they only warrant the battery for the first month.

Interesting point Ivan. I did a little research and Samsung's battery warranty is somewhat contradictory. In one document, they mention: "The warranty covers manufacturing defects only. Please note that this does not include consumables items such as batteries, bulbs, and ink cartridges unless listed above under 'general information'".

My Note 4 has user-replaceable battery and in the Quick Start leaflet that accompanies the device, Samsung clearly indicates the battery has a one year warranty. The best practice would be for cell phone owners to consult the warranty information supplied with their phones as battery warranties are more than likely device-specific as is the case with your BLU phone.
