Hello, the phone number I obtained with my phone is still associated with the previous owner of the phone number (i.e. whenever I call someone their name shows up on call display). I talked to Koodo in the store for at least 30 minutes and they referred me to the Number Portability Administration Center (https://numberportability.com/resources/contact-iconectiv/). They claimed the previous owner registered the number with them, but in following up but they said they do not service Canada. Any ideas? I'm located in Vancouver, Canada with a 604 number; A5 phone. Thanks

When I signed up with Koodo a few months ago this number was available so it is now my number with Koodo. The set up was conducted at the store. Everything has been fine so far except the call display issue, which I assumed would be a quick fix. This is a rare occurrence according to the sales rep when I went in yesterday to resolve.

Have you tried contacting Koodo where a rep might know how to fix? Don't put too much faith in sales reps in store as you can tell by them saying the previous owner registered it with a service that is only available in the States. If the sales rep contacted Koodo and was told to tell you that then................

How important is this number to you? You could always change your number to a new one yourself through your self serve.

The Sales Rep was talking with their Tech dept for about a half hour trying to resolve. I've been updating my number with all my contacts so it's a real hassle to change again. Plus the middle numbers are 999, so it's pretty bad ass. :p

Koodo does not yet offer name display. I'll bet the folks who are seeing the old name are Samsung users. Samsung maintains its own caller name display database, which is not connected to the carriers in any way. I don't recall if Samsung has any means to correct old information, but you might ask them!

In addition, if by chance,  individuals have the other person in their contacts list (small world  syndrome) then that contact's name could appear against your number.

Agreed, I'll reply to Samsung and see what they come back with. Thanks!

Samsung phones use Hiya (formerly whitepages) to display information of numbers not in your contacts. You should be able to update the information for your number here: https://hiyahelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us...
