When ever I listen to music it pauses randomly. Also when I do play music and look at it on my lock screen it doesn't show how far I am in the song. It usually says I'm 3 seconds into the song when I'm actually 1 minute in. I feel my phone is a defect but wondering what to do about it

Are you using Apple Music app? and you used cellular data for it?

I would suggest you go to Settings-->Cellular--> Music app and enable (set to green).

Hope it could help. Btw, which iphone was it?

Have you tried to exit all apps?, upgrade ios? turn off Siri? and you can always visit an Apple store after that. I am on iPhone7 and the music is flawless.

It is likely a software problem with apple. Visiting an Apple store is the best way, or call apple.

Some suggested that the iPhone Music app is trying to get information on the song through wifi/cellular and that could be the issues: http://www.player.one/apple-music-problems-how-fix-issues-syncing-playlists-icloud-library-offline-4...

Yea for sure, I'm planning on going to the apple store today. I recently bought the phone too and I'm still within my 15 days so I think it's just the phone

If it is music downloaded to the phone, and not streaming, then it is a phone / software issue (no carrier involvement) You will want to be sure you are not downloading from from your Apple Music Subscription, and that you have a continuous cellular or Wi-Fi connection. Switching between Wi-Fi and cellular will cause problems with streaming.
