I have been billed $46.00 for airtime for one phone call which I know would never have lasted that long.   How can I find out how this happened?

Login to self serve, click view my bill, download your pdf ebill and look at page 3. The subsequent pages will show which calls incurred which charges.

That is how I found out why my bill was so high    What I am trying to find out is how I got a 287 minute phone call to someone (who I do know), I woud never have talked that long to on the phone  What happened to allow the bill to run up  Is it possible one of us did not hang up??   If one hung up would that not have cut the connection?    I cannot reach her at this time to see if she has the same air time for that call

Check your call history on your phone, match the date and see if you can find the call and the length.

it matches a text message time   which can only be because I must not have closed out before putting phone down and going to work

If you were charged $46 for airtime, it's a 96 min of your minutes.
Are all calls to same number?
Can you check your E-bill as Allan said. It will show you all the details of your calls - Date and time, from/to who, duration... etc.
Did you make calls to US/internationally?

It is **not** possible to accumulate talk minutes from a text message. You will need to look elsewhere for the reason for the accumulation of talk minutes.

Do you have a limited number of minutes in your plan?

Can you post a screenshot of page 3 of your bill so we can help figure it out? You will need to edit out personal info first, though.

Hello Lynne,

That is unfortunate. I was under the impression that once the phone call ends, the line automatically closes...
