Moving from the old tab to the new tab with a negative balance

Say I have -$100 left on my old tab... if I upgrade to a new phone (say, Nexus 5), and keep my old plan ($30/month), but upgrade to the new Tab Medium - I will pay $35/month, correct?

But my question is, my tab still be out in 2 years max? I'd have a HUGE tab then, with the Tab Medium added to my old -$100 balance. Would it automatically be gone in 2 years as per the new rules, or will I still have to ride out the old -$100 tab?

Sorry if this has been asked before! I'm new to the forums and I did try searching it and couldn't find it.

Thanks

You would need to pay off your old tab before you can upgrade

You can keep your plan since it's 30$ there would be a 5$ tab charge monthly if you want tab medium

Your tab would be cleared in two years even if it was still in the negative

So to clarify, I will first pay off the $100, then I can upgrade to a tab medium, which will be cleared in 2 years?

So I can't just add the tab medium to my -$100 and have that large sum be cleared in 2 years, eh. I guess that would have been too good to be true :P

That's right. It used to work like the way you mentioned but because of the CRTC ruling, the requirement is now the tab has to be paid out before a new phone can be purchased.
