I'm going to be moving from Vancouver to Terrace. I currently have one of the Canada wide plans with an area code number of 604. Will I need to switch plans or numbers or something when I get up there?
you can switch numbers if you want, or not, if you don't want to. Like dfbutt said, depends on whether it's better for your to have a Terrace number or a Vancouver one. I think it's free to do via self serve. The amount of your bill won't be different if you move. The plans are the same province-wide.
Another option is for you to port-out the Vancouver number to a service like voip.ms. They require a $25 deposit, but holding your number with them will only cost 85 cents/month. Porting will cost $8. Then you can have a Terrace number on your cell phone and voip.ms forwarding your calls from your Vancouver number to your cell. Careful when you're doing this, though. Koodo customer service agents aren't very well versed on porting and can give wrong advice. You need to port-out the number first and make sure that that process is completed before you change your number to a Terrace number in self-serve. If you change your number first, or before the process is completed, your Vancouver number will be lost
