Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE Sprint phone work on Koodo

Hi,

I'm wondering if the Photon Q will work on the Koodo network if I unlock it? It has the right frequency for Koodo and is GSM so why wouldn't it work?

I did have an I927 Samsung Captivate that worked on Koodo but It had issues like it couldn't send pics over text and other weird bugs.

I wouldn't need to do this but Canada has zero options for hard key Qwerty board phones.

Thanks in advance:)

Just like you had issues with the Samsung captive you may run into issues with the photon if it even works at all. Your better off looking for something on T-Mobile if your looking to the United States for a device or check out the BlackBerry Q5 from Koodo which can run Android apps if you sideload them or use a 3rd party Android app store option.
Your best option is to get use to virtual on screen keyboards nobody is making devices with physical keyboards anymore except BlackBerry and I doubt they will even be doing them much longer.
If you get an Android device without a physical keyboard download a 3rd party keyboard called "SwiftKey" from the PlayStore and it will make a world of difference using an on screen keyboard. Plus on screen keyboards have gotten much easier to use than even a year ago so give it another try you'll be surprised I'm sure.

If the phone uses 850/1900 MHz, then it should work.

Just happened to be watching a video from droidlife and theythey referenced an old review they did of the photon Q & made fun of how bad the camera is on that phone so if camera is something you care about at all I highly suggest against looking at the Photon Q as even an option whether it would work on Koodo or not.

Thanks everyone, this helped a lot. I think i might have to just get used to the screen typer and try that swiftkey app. If the camera was the only negativr id still get it but im sure it wikk have a lot of bugs like the captivate. I was thinking maybe it was just a bad phone but i doubt it. I hope swiftkey isnt and autocorrect app...

Cheers

If you got the Moto G why do you want a crap phone like the Photon man? The G is an awesome phone especially for the price, it keeps up to all the high end devices I've used pretty damn well including the S4,Nexus 4, Nexus 5, HTC ONE, Note 2, etc, the G is totally a little beast of a device. It could easily sell for twice the price and still be a great purchase. So like I said why be looking at crap devices or did you just grab the Moto G after asking this question?

It is a sweet little phone. I couldnt believe the specs on it when i looked on phoneArena. I hope the screen typing gets better. I was so much faster with the hard key board. Thanks for your help paul.

You definitely get used to it, but it could take some time. While sometimes it guesses the wrong word autocorrect can be useful when adjusting as well, you just need to keep an eye on your message before you send it ;).

The keyboard I suggested to download from the PlayStore "SwiftKey" needs time to learn the way you type and words you use most but after about 2 weeks it's amazing. Just make sure to set it up to learn from your different accounts like your sms, Facebook, Gmail, etc. Also hold down the SwiftKey symbol in the left of the keyboard and select to make the keys as large as possible, it makes typing much easier. Well enjoy your purchase Brandon and make sure to update the camera software in the PlayStore as well it makes the camera much better especially the low light shots which were pretty weak out of the box.
Have a great holiday man.
