Only the actual Moto Z comes with a style shell included, I believe it comes with the grey wood back.
If you want to buy the Moto Z Play and get a style shell separate you can check Telus they carry Moto Mods and shells...or just order from eBay if you don't mind waiting.

Does anybody know if the Moto Z Play is locked to the Koodo network or does it come unlocked from Lenovo? Thank you in advance.

With the exception of Google Phones (Pixel, Nexus, etc.) phones from carriers in Canada are locked to the carrier.

That said you could get it unlocked very cheap possibly from eBay, I know I paid like $5 to have my Moto G unlocked from someone I found with a quick search on eBay.

Hi Ash, I have the Z Play and can confirm that it does not come with a back cover in the box. The Incipio battery Moto Mod is surprisingly thin and makes a great back cover. The Z actually comes with a bumper case which protects the outer ring of the phone only.

I got the Z Play from Koodo. Ordered the unlock code on eBay for $3, got the code within two hours. Didn't come with any shells or mods.

I have no interest in shells or mods at this time. Although the shells make the phone visually more appealing, I just ordered a couple flip cases instead. I heard that the cases won't fit if you add mods so I didn't want to chance it with shells.

Should I stick to Moto by Lenovo for my future upgrades, I might get mods down the road, when they're available 2nd hand, on clearance, or even if there are options on eBay for knock-offs or serious discounts. The Z Play already commes with a massive battery, there are many cost-effective bluetooth speakers on the market, the projector only does 480 resolution (screen casting is a better alternative).

Sadly, miracast is blocked by default (like the Pixel)...gonna void warranty, root the phone and modify the system file in order to enable miracast so I can screencast to my TV.

TitaniumTux Just get a chromecast for $35 that usually comes with $20 worth or playstore credits plus constant other offers for free through the year so basically it ends up making you money and keep the phones warranty and stream to your TV that way, I have 3 in my house so far and absolutely love them. Definitely something to think about so you can keep your warranty

@Paul...that's a great deal. Mind you, I'm gonna void warranty by rooting anyway...need to in order to block ads, enable sip dialing in the stock dialer, patch some apps, etc. Can do so much more with a rooted phone...
