Moto G5 Plus Won't Recognize SIM Card

I just bought an unlocked Moto G 5 plus XT1687 off amazon. I have an active 3 in 1 SIM which I broke down to Nano Sim size to fit. Everything states that this phone is compatible, but it won't read the SIM card. Reads fine in my current phone. I contacted the seller and he stated it was tested before shipment. Return is an option, but if it works I would like to save the time. Thanks

You could try a second sim card from someone else just to be 100% sure but the problem doesn't follow the sim card so it's basically the phone.

So it doesn't recognize the sim card at all?

No indication at all. It has the no sim icon at the top of the screen, and the lock screen shows no sim emergency calls only.

Did you check in the phones setting to make sure it is indeed the model number they stated in the ad?
Also make sure you put the SIM in properly and also not in the SD card slot instead of the SIM Card slot whivh I'm sure you probably didn't but worth a check or that it's not in the SIM tray backwards.
Also make sure it's set to wcdma/LTE in the network type.

I verified the IMEI, and I can't access the network settings without it reading the SIM. I appreciate the effort. I was just hoping there might be some weird quirk I was overlooking. I am just going to send it back and find something local. Thanks!
