I have a Moto G  Android Version 5.1. I am in Ottawa and had this Koodo plan for almost 2 years. For the last couple of days it has been dropping the network signal on and off to Emergency call only. If i turn it on and off when it powers back it says No SIM Card, but sometimes after a few minutes it picks up the network again.

I tried a few fixes that I found in the internet and I even got a network reset from Koodo tech support. I can only get it fixed temporarily. I was told that it could be a SIM card problem; except that my wife has same phone and plan and she is having the same problem. There is another phone in the house (Samsung Galaxy) on the same plan and same network; no problems. Is there a chance that our settings have been changed or that there is and issue with local network?. (Have not been out of the house for a couple of days.)

That is odd. I recommend turning off the phone before removing the SIM card. Have you tried removing and re-seating the SIM cards in both phones? You should feel a 'click' when the card is properly seated. Inspect the SIM card itself for any damage and inspect the SIM card slot for any dust build-up or debris.

I am having the same problem with my moto g, in fact during a phone call it seemed to be 'struggling' with the network signal until now it doesn't work at all and a message that there is no sim card.... could there be an outage? thank you

Did you try restart your phone?
And/or turning power off > take a sim card out > wait for a whole and put it back in >restart your phone?
