Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please stop using the Mexican wrestler caricature in your advertising. It's: Offensive, tacky, uninteresting, unrelatable and, one more u word, ugly.

Grow up its not offensive at all, he's cute and funny as heck Many ppl absolutely love him as every single time Koodo offers any merchandise featuring his likeness it sells out extremely quickly. You need to get a sense of humor you'll enjoy life a lot more.

I think the only ones qualified to say if it's offensive or not are Mexican's tbh. Much too easy for non-Mexicans to say it isn't offensive. It's like non-black people who say paining ones face black to portray a black person for holloween isn't offensive, or non-natives saying native american sports names and logos aren't offensive. I think the "walk a mile in somebody's shoes" expression applies here.

I'm native and I take native Portrayal in stereotypical jokes and such very lightly it's jokes and should be taken as such. It's not like they use any racial slurs or anything like that, he's just a cool Mexican wrestler and if anything I think it makes a good impression. I'd love if he was a native character ya know.

There's no reason for El Tabador to be offensive. Lucha libre wrestling is a part of Mexican culture. Would a toreador automatically be insensitive to Spanish people? Or a Mountie for us Canadians?

What exactly do you find offensive about him? "Tacky", "uninteresting", "unrelatable [sic]", and "ugly" are all quite relative.

Calling El Tabador "ugly" is pretty offensive. He is pretty proud about his appearance. If he took all the insults seriously, he would dive into a deep depression. You are basically wanting to get him fired because of how he looks. This, noah, would be discrimination.

This might give some insight as to why a luchador was chosen

If it's not offensive (it is) it's at least, and largely, embarrassing.

How is it embarassing?
I have had many customers tell me how much they enjoy seeing him in the commercials and laugh at his antics. I even had a few customers who are Mexican (they said they were, I did not make that judgement) tell me they are glad Koodo chose a luchador. Others tell me the reason they came to Koodo is because the commercials made them laugh. As such, they have also recommended Koodo to people via the commercials.

What if Koodo chose a samurai, an aboriginal warrior, mongolian warrior, etc to be the mascot? There are people that would find those offensive too. Koodo can't please everyone. I find a lot of things offensive. I just take it in stride because they do not affect me on a personal level. That is the practice I would wish others to take as well.

Thank you for your concern but I am doing just fine here.

*I shouldn't feed into this, I shouldn't feed into this, I shouldn't feed into this*

You should post your reasons why you find El tabador "Offensive, tacky, uninteresting, unrelatable and, one more u word, ugly."

OR (as you said it about 30 minutes ago)

Stop.

This is a public forum and you did start a thread which I think is a fair debating point, but now you are acting ignorant to others' opinions and I think others have been diplomatic in their responses.

To clarify, El Tabador offends you personally or do you assume he offends the Luchador community?

If it's the second, I think Rey Mysterio Jr. can fight his own battles.

Hello. Brands without mascots are boring.

Some companies have "mascots" who are real people (like Apple with the late Steve Jobs) or cartoons (like El Tabador) the idea is to draw in customers by seeming friendly by putting a face on the company. Koodo has the right idea in El Tabador because the new generation of consumers want to be friends with the companies they finance rather than just buying stuff from a no name guy in a suit. El Tabador provides just that level of relatability, whether you believe that or not is a matter of your opinion.

Also, El Tabador is spoofing Luchadors not Mexicans as a whole. I haven't met a Luchador myself (As far as I know anyway, who know's what they look like under those masks) but I imagine that they have a bit of a sense of humour.

Brett the hit man Heart has done commercials with El tabador so if he was offensive in any way towards wrestlers he would never have agreed to work with him.
Are you offended because he gets more women than you, or did he steal your girlfriend? LOL Don't hate the Playa hate the game
