Lost/Stolen Phone

Hey yesterday i think i dropped my galaxy s2x right outside of my school when i got out of my car. I thought i had left it in the car and my mom drove off with it so i didnt bother to go look for it on the ground. Anyways i got home and called my phone and it went straight to voice mail which scared me, I called again a million times and the same thing, voice mail.

A couple hours later i decided to look for things that can track the phone, i downloaded android lost from my computer and it said it was installed to my phone, i then went to the website and it said i needed to send the phone a text saying androidlost register to register my phone, i did that but while i did that my brother called my phone and it actually rang! to my voicemail though, so he tried again and halfway through the rings it went to voicemail and the phone was once again shut off so i dont think the androidlost had time to register cause it still says im not registered.

Im on a last ditch attempt at finding my phone and i read somewhere online that you can call your service provider and ask for your phones last gps location which woulda been when my phone was turned on by the person, so my questions are, how do i work androidlost? does it work when the phones off (it says it doesnt use battery power because of advanced technology)? and can koodo track my phones last gps location? and how can i go about getting it back (i spent all my money on the phone and dont have any more money to spend on a new one.). I know i need to be more careful with my stuff but i always lose things because of my add so yesterday i was just focused on getting to class and forgot all about my phone.

sorry for the long post and i greatly appreciate any help

thanks.

Call Koodo and suspend your account for the time being. You don't want someone else using your phone to call half way around the world.

I have a password on it, and im calling/ texting it repeatedly seeing if its on, which it isnt so i am planning on not suspending it in hopes the person turns it on and my tracking apps find it. can koodo seriously not track the last place my phone was/ was close too, i find that hard to believe.

If you're on post paid, your sim card is still live. The person who finds your phone might remove your sim card, insert it into his/her unlocked phone and make calls on your dime. Only way to kill your sim is to call Koodo or do it online with Koodo self serve. Your sim card is like a credit card. I'd be more worried about the sim and not so much about the phone.

Okay but my question is, can koodo track the phones last location? and doesnt the sim contain your phone number which would make my call go to there phone?

No, Koodo can't track the phones location or last location or any location. Yes, the sim card contains YOUR phone number however if he takes it out and puts a different one in, you're out of luck on that. Even more if he factory resets the phone.

Android Device Manager.
It will show exactly where your phone is, if it is on and you have signed up for it in Google +.
Works great! Just Google Android Device Manager.

I have a question, Say you lose your phone, Is there anyway to keep the number that had. My second question is Does Koodo charge you for the phone you lost?

Yes and yes. To keep your number just swap a new sim into the account and use it with a different phone. (you can also port out to a different provider if you really want to).
As for paying for the phone, look at it this way: koodo had no way of determining whether the phone was actually lost or stolen or if you simply sold it on Kijiji, so they're not going to simply write off whatever you owe for it. You can thank the jerks who keep trying to game the system for that.
