I have been with Koodo for over 2 years now. I recently switched my blackberry curve to the android ace 2x. When I switched phones I also removed the "blackberry social" add on...as I no longer have a blackberry. I now however have noticed that I lost my voicemail and call display, which I do not understand. I was told when I switched phone the only change being made was the removal of blackberry features. My girlfriend has the 25 Canada-wide talk and text, and she gets voice mail and call display. I have the same thing and I do not...but I had it before I switched phones. Anyone have an explanation as to why in my $25 plan I do not get call display and voice mail??

If your original plan (while you were using the BB) before removing the social add-on did not include Call Display and Voicemail, then... you won't have it now... but you say you had it before you switched phones so I'm confused. The agreement you signed should have been reviewed briefly with you (it shows your plan features and any add-ons).

How do you know you don't have it? Are you looking at your plan details in Self Serve? Did you place a test call to yourself from someone you know? Have you tried dialing into your voicemail to test it out?

Yes, I definitely do not have voicemail and call display. When I get an incoming call it says "unknown number" and when I call my own number to set up the voicemail, I get a dial tone.
It was explained to me on, by the koodo customer service, that I would have to pay extra to "re-add" call display and voicemail. However I had call display and voicemail before removing the "blakcberry social" add-on. If I did not have call display and voicmail in my original contract then, like you said, that does not make sense. All of koodos Canada wide talk and text plans come with call display and voicemail...my girlfriend has the 25 Canada- Wide talk and text and she gets call display and voicemail. So there is no way I should have to pay more..or upgrade to the $30 dollar plan, when I already had call display and voicemail before switching to my new Android.
It is very confusing and I do not feel, after 2 years that I should have to pay more.

You have an older version of a $25 plan which did not include those features. Your girlfriend has a newer version of the plan which does include it. Since plans change often, the lowest plan Koodo has is the $30 plan that includes those features.

It's possible (although I'm not 100% sure), that Caller ID and VM were included with the BB social as sort of a bundle package. If that's the case when you removed it, those features were removed with it. I know for a while at Telus, Blackberry Social included unlimited texting for example of features being bundled.

As Jonathan suggested I'd log into self serve. Under Plans and Add ons click plans and check your services to see if Caller Display and/or voice mail are listed. Mine weirdly doesn't list VM (although it's included) but you can see Caller Display. If neither are are listed it likely wasn't included in your base plan and was part of the package you added. If they are listed you'll have to call into Koodo tech support to see if they can troubleshoot whey they are not working.

Ok so I just looked at the fine details. Ontop of not having Voicemail and Call Display...I now only have 50 text messages...which before switching from my Blackberry...I had unlimited. This whole situation was 100% not explained to me by the koodo representative. I now seem to have $30 in text charges. It would be pretty easy for me to pay off my tab and leave koodo as this all seems completely ridiculous. I went in with my broken blackberry, I had more than enough tab dollars to get the Android...which was suggested to me by the representative...and I was given no information that my "monthly plan" was being changed this drastically, by now not having a blackberry. Based on the plans everyone else has and Koodo offers, it seems crazy that I had these features because I bundled it with blackberry.

Bottom line: if you want to get a definite answer and get this fixed, call Koodo.

Are you sure is wansn't the Blackberry Basic?
That $10 feature had unlimited BBM, call display, voicemail, and unlimited text messaging.

They could have had bb social, plus the $10 add on for CD/VM/unlimited messaging.

Jeez, that rep screwed up. He/she clearly didn't explain anything about the rate plan changes that were taking place nor did they seem to review the agreement with you (which shows rate plan details and what you are signing up for). I'm sorry to hear about something that could have been easily avoided... call customer service when they open tomorrow and explain the situation. It's less to do with Android/BB as OSes themselves, it was the add-ons that you had that made the plans work the way it was supposed to.

Hey everyone, the rep was able to credit me the full amount for the text messages and my bill is now normal. He then changed my plan to the Can talk and text $30, which is what I would have done a month ago, had I known this was happening. The only thing he could not change was the time from my Sept 5 bill until today.....which I have $33 in text charges lol....he said that they cannot do anything until my next bill comes out. So I shall wait and call back then.
Cheers
