Sorry to hear that. You will have to buy a new phone and SIM card (no discount, unfortunately). Since Koodo doesn't have many prepaid phones for sale, I would suggest that you buy an unlocked phone somewhere else.

Go to prepaid self-serve to suspend your service. When you get your new phone and activate the new SIM you can change it back.

Sadly no one provides discounts on replacement purchases for stolen phones. You'd need to be insured. Another option is the pre-owned phones Koodo sells. Or of course kijiji/ebay.

Hi Shaine, sorry that your phone was stolen. Not much a carrier can do to help when a pre paid phone has been damaged or stolen unless u buy it from them and it has a warranty of some kind(even then theft wont be covered).

When you are looking for a new phone, and its not Koodo locked, make sure its either a Telus phone or an unlocked Canadian distributed version of a phone as 9 times out of 10 it will work with Koodo. There is a website called www.willmyphonework.net that can help you to see if a new phone will work with a specific carrier.

Because it was a prepaid cellphone, chances are you bought the phone in full with a credit card.  Depending on your credit card, there may be PURCHASE ASSURANCE that covers you if it was within 90 days of purchase (may vary by credit card).

Otherwise any stolen property should be covered by your home insurance policy.

I didn't even think about that. Brilliant.

Chances are though that it's not worth it to make a claim on your house insurance if it's a cheaper prepaid phone, not really worth the hit to your insurance.

I agree.  In that case (off topic here), calculate what dollar figure is worth it for an insurance claim and change your deductible to that higher amount and save on your premiums
