Lost our old iphone 3, going to buy a used iphone 4, can i transfer my current plan to the new phone? easily?

Yes, it's very easy.

As long as the new phone is unlocked (or a telus / koodo phone), compatiable, and not on the lost /stolen data base, you only need to buy a new sim and transfer your service to it through self serve. Or you can pay a fee and have customer service transfer it for you.

Then you just place the new sim in the new phone and away you go.

I should ask however if you've suspended service to the old phone. This is most important because anyone who finds that phone can use it on your account and you'd be responsible to pay for any use. You can do that as well on self serve.

thanks for the info! I suspened service and reported it lost, right after we couldn't find it.
what If I get a phone that is already locked to the the koodo/telus network, can i use a phone like that?

Just as a suggestion, I wouldn't bother picking up a used iPhone 4... I know Apple devices age better than other phones but you're gonna struggle with that thing. At least try for a 5/5C
