It's possible it ran out of battery? I would call and have your account suspended temporarily incase you find it the next day or something.

I lost it at 9am at the gas station with a full charge. Called it at 10am it went straight to voicemail. i went back to the gas station, they said no one turned it in.

That link explains under which circumstances you can do a remote wipe. Otherwise you would have to depend on the strength of your password to protect your data. Having said that you can also attempt Google device manager to see if you can find it if location is not turned off. Uhmm...fwiw it is unlikely th potential thi would care about the data on a random stolen phone.

Make sure you report it as stolen via self serve. Otherwise any charges racked up by the finder will be your responsibility. Also you'll be blacklisting the phone making it useless to the the theif and worthless to sell since it won't function in North American carriers( though wifi will still work)

Hmm after losing my change purse (with all my credit cards in it) down the outside of my passengers seat when in my car seeing you were at a gas station I would thoroughly check your car out to see if it's not in there! Hopefully it is!!! Other than that I would call your phone everyday just to prick the conscience of whoever has it. As for me I have found two iPhones thus far and made sure the folks missing them have got them back so all is not lost for there are still some honest and compassionate folks in this world!!!
