I am currently on Rogers, but thinking about change to Koodo. I did some readings about the Tab system, both in the website, the FAQ area and in the forum, but there is still something I am not sure if I understood it right, so it would be great if some one can answer that.

I am not sure how the Tab clear in 24 months guarantee works. If I am getting the $30 plan and a Nexus 4, I would start with -300 Tab (right?), and each month there will be a $5 Tab charge, and (30-5)*15% (since the monthly Tab contribution excludes Tab charges). After 24 monthes it should be only $210 paying to the Tab. From what I have read it sound like Koodo will wipe the remaining $90 in this case, is that correct?

After the Tab being cleared, what about the $5 tab charge in the $30 monthly fee? Is it going to be reduced to a $25 monthly fee, or just changed to a no Tab, with 10% off from the $30 monthly fee?

Two other question, not Tab related...
If I am getting the $30 Canada-Wide Talk & Text Plans, is long distance call within Canada (saying, from New Brunswick to BC) treated the same as local calls?
Last question... There is currently a offer of double minutes, expires on 7th Aug. If I do the "reserve in store" in Future shop before the expiring date, and pick it up in the 10th, would I still get that offer? (I guess not, but there is no store nearby. )

Thanks for reading, and thanks again for your help!

You are correct on the first 2 counts, but to be sure you get the plan before it expires you would actually need to activate koodo service before the expiry date of the plan. You can do this by obtaining a koodo sim (can even buy one from the webstore) and calling koodo to activate it. You don't actually need a phone to activate an account, just the sim.

Thanks! I guess I will just get it in the 10th without the promotion. I don't think I need 200 minutes anyway...

Good thing is that you can change your plan anytime via self serve free(once a month). So keep eye on a Koodo web site :)

You're almost there Yanggang.

Each month, you would be charged $35 ($30 for your plan, and $5 for your Tab contribution). Koodo then shrinks your Tab by $4.50 (15% of your $30 plan). If there is any amount left to pay after 24 months have passed, it's simply wiped clean.

Once your Tab is zero or goes into the positive, the $5 monthly Tab contribution stops (meaning you only get charged $30, which is the price of your plan) but the 15% Koodo contribution remains (you accumulate $4.50 Tab every month). Overage fees, if any, are also included into the 15% calculation.

Canada-wide plans mean Canada, as a whole, is the calling zone. There are no long distance anything as long as calls are placed from and to Canada, for their whole duration. Same for data. SMS is the same, but you can still send out internationally without any extra fees.

You have to get everything set up before the 7th. After this, the promo will be gone!

Hope it helps :)

The O.P. is clearly looking at postpaid, not prepaid. It's a completely different billing structure.

Thanks! I thought the $5 tab charge is included in the $30, but looks like I was wrong.

No its added onto the plan and taxes are added to the $5 each month as well. It's still a great deal to get a phone on the Medium Tab which is basically an interest free loan that you just pay back at only $5 a month. Can't ask for much more than that.

Did it get confirmed that there are taxes on the $5 payment? I know there was a thread about it the other day but I hadn't seen if there was a definitive answer given.

Ya I got my first bill since taking on a medium Tab and there is taxes on the $5 tab charge. It's in the nitty gritty of the explanation as well according to John B
