If I have a friend on another provider (eg. Bell, Rogers) calling me long distance and I pick up the call (within my own local area), do I get charged for long distance or just air time?

It doesn't matter where your friend is. As long as you receive the call (ANY call) within your local calling area, only your normal airtime applies. If you're on your evenings/weekends during the incoming call, it's free and unlimited. Also, if you have a Canada-wide plan, you can receive any call anywhere in Canada and you won't be charged extra for long distance.
