I am travelling to New Zealand and Australia and would like to use my cell phone and a calling card to make long distance calls. How does the calling card work with a cell phone? Will I be using my local call minutes from my plan when I use the calling card?

Hey Jane

koodo doesnt gurantee calling cards will work

the best thing to do is get the phone unlcoked for $50 through koodo
theres certain places that do this for cheaper

and get a prepaid sim when your down there with one of the service providers down there

if you want to use koodos services
this is the rates

Zone 1
voice $1.50/min data $5.00/MB sms $0.60/text

depending on your credit rating you may not be able to use the phone internatioanlly with koodos services
of you are elgible you will need to have the internatioal voice roaming and data ftre added to the account free features ( they allow access to towers traveling internatioanlly)

the best way to go is get the phone unlocked

Hi Jane, Teabird is right! If you wish to use your Koodo account during your trip, you must also add the $2 LD Saver feature. This feature and the International Voice Roaming feature can easily be added online via your Self Serve account. Note that all calls, data and messages done while you're abroad are charged and not deducted from your plan, so using a calling card won't really make a difference as rates are the same whether you make a local or international call. Have a nice trip :)
