I'm a student who works for Loblaws and there are a bunch of signs around the employee lounge that state if you're with koodo we can get a 25% discount off your bill. I went to to the mobile shop kiosk to to ask about it and they told me that we could try and submit the discount for me but since I'm not 18 yet, koodo would most likely deny it. To me this does not make sense. obviously since I'm not 18 my dad had had to put the phone in his name! I I think this isn't fair and should be seriously looked at because it doesn't really make sense if I can prove this is my phone and work for Loblaws.

If you aren't old enough to sign a contract, then you aren't eligible to receive the other benefits that would come from having an employee account. Even with an employee account, you are still subject to a credit check, which cannot be done if you are not age of majority.

Someone must not have been paying attention, the account is in someone else's name or the initial form was falsified. Nothing against you at all. I mean no offense by this. Just stating possible scenerios.

I ready it a little bit different... didn't you say the phone is in your Dad's name? Since your Dad does not work for Loblaws, he does not qualify for the discount... as simple as that :)
The fact that you're the one using the phone doesn't mean anything in this case... just make sure you still work for them by the time you turn 18 (or 19, if that is the legal age where you are). Then you can get the account in your name and apply for the discount! :D

This doesn't add up. AT ALL.

First you complain about not being able to get a phone because of your age, then you state that your dad put the phone in your name, now you're asking how you got a phone in your name?

Get your story straight, because you're clearly making things up. None of this makes any sense.

Sophia's pretty much got it. Only the account holder can be eligible for the discount and he/she must work for Lobalws. It doesn't matter who ends up using the phone. Sorry for that misunderstanding!

Our of curiosity, Rachel, which Loblaws do you work at?

It was an idea I posted not a question so your opinion wasn't needed "starfox"

Sorry to burst your bubble there, sweetheart, but that won't change the fact that you are a minor with a Koodo account in someone else's name who DOES NOT work for Loblaws. I don't know how much clearer I can be on this. It's simple logic. I'll give my opinion whether it's needed or not, thank you very much. I reread your original post and I'm still trying to wrap my head around why you think the situation doesn't make sense. If I had a paint program, I would draw you a picture because it seems simple text isn't doing the job...

So you want Koodo to break the law just so you can have a phone in your name? Alright then.

I take it your idea is for Lablaws to put up better signs :) Because anything else is simply impossible and probably will be for a long time to come.

The only option left for you, I'm afraid, is to pursue a career in law or politics and see if you can change the rules for future generations :D

Even if her idea is regarding Loblaws, she would need to speak directly to them. Koodo has no bearing on what a 3rd party retailer does with their signs.

This thread is pretty ridiculous quite frankly.

I think it is a matter of experience. It is implied that any special deals are to the account holder only.

Rachel, you and your father could try going to Koodo and ask them to put the phone in your name and use your father as the co-signer for the debt.

Unfortunately, Stephen, that will not work. In order to get the account in her name, she has to be at least 18 or 19 depending what province she is in. There is no such thing as a co-sign for Koodo's service.

In Canada adult starts at 18. You can vote and get married, can't celebrate any of it with alcohol.

Age of majority is different depending what province. Commonly it is 18 but there are some that are 19

Couple of things here, Rachel.

1. I worked for Loblaws for 3 years. I understand the amount of high school kids that work here... that's how I ended up working at Mobile Shop and now I've managed 2 different locations. I'm currently in Aurora.

The good news is you'll make the "adult" minimum wage of $10.25/hour once you turn 18... and then you can get the transfer of ownership and employee discount. I have some bad news, however: the Koodo employee discount for Loblaws employees is, to my knowledge, only being offered until the end of this year because PC Mobile postpaid has launched and they now offer 25% off your plan. It makes sense that the in-store brand gets the discount and not a third party anymore.

2. It has nothing to do with the signs... if you're not eligible due to age, then that's really all there is to it. It's just the law. It applies to ALL telecoms in Canada; Koodo/Loblaws isn't just trying to screw you.

3. You don't need to pay $70/month for a good phone/plan... have you seen the Nexus 4? It's fantastic hardware for the price point! Go play with it at your Mobile Shop. We have a live demo.

Fast, great screen, decent camera, and it's only $300 retail... you can get it on Medium Tab now, so you can pay $150 less in store than the "classic" tab (aka small) but pay an extra $5/month on top of your plan (as long as it's at least $30), which ends up saving you $30 over the 24 months. You can pick from any of the Talk + Text or regular data plans.

Did none of the Mobile Shop guys go over any of this with you and get excited about supporting our employees? We love you guys. We need to maintain good relations with our Loblaws staff.

Which location do you work at? I'd like to follow up with them. :)

Whats your problem Star Fox?????
"Sorry to burst your bubble there sweetheart..."? This is how a man communicates with another man's daughter, a total stranger?
The child Rachel, is so stupid that, "If I had a paint program, I would draw you a picture..."? This is how you interact with children? Your behavior is disgusting and offensive and serves only to use Koodo to humiliate a child.

Don't be sorry for me Topper. But Please do help me to understand. Are telling me that it is Koodo Policy that a Koodo Rep can say to women, " Sorry to burst your bubble sweetheart, that plan is not availabe? Or "Look lady I wish I could draw you a picture, cause you ain't understanding me"?
Don't minimize Topper. We all know that Koodo recognizes Racheal as a child, using her Father's Phone, period.
We all know that Star Fox was melting down a few posts prior, with his blanket apology, for being "at his wits end" with Racheal. I think it got out of hand to the line of verbally abusive. But in the absence of an apology, we could let the Moderater decide.

Stephen, if you feel somebody is out of line, your best bet is to report it as (what you perceive) a "no-no" and then leave it up to Koodo to moderate - we all get upset at times, or try to restore some order in chaos. Most definitely we all have different levels of what we view as acceptable. However, we usually leave the real moderating to the Koodo staff. You are wise for wanting to leave this to Koodo :)

Stephen, Koodo's policies apply to their employees, and unless I'm mistaken, StarFox ain't one. Were you somehow led to believe that we were Koodo employees on this forum? A couple are, but they're well known. I don't remember StarFox saying he's one.

Regarding the wording used in the reply, I've said and been told far worse things, both as an adolescent and as an adult. I've survived to become fully functional adult, and as a bonus I've learned to deal with less pleasant situations. So on that point Stephen, you'll have to wait for someone else to come and agree with you. And please do not take it the wrong way, I have absolutely nothing against you, I simply don't share your view.

Glad you're not the moderator, Stephen. Cool your jets. I'm not here to make friends. I explained the situation calmly at first which was not understood. I explained again....not understood. I don't know how much clearer I could get. You think my demeanor was in the wrong? Fine. Your opinion is noted. What about the poster's snarky remarks? Nothing about that? Oh, wait. She is a "child." I see how it works with you.

"So if I'm not the age of majority how did I get get a phone in he first place?"
"obviously since I'm not 18 my dad had had to put the phone in his name"

She just answered her own question, Stephen. Maybe some attention is needed on what the original post said. There is no reason why this went on for as long as it did. So, as it stands....well, we all know the answer. Shall I repeat it from an earlier post where I wasn't a jerk or are we all on the same page, now?

Wow, I hope PC Mobile starts offering a better selection of phones soon because the more I read this Koodo Community Forum the more I can't believe Loblaw's has a Corporate partnership with Koodo, with how rude and sarcastic Koodo Reps can be publically(I'd hate to see how they are off record). It doesn't seem all Koodo Rep's are this bad and maybe it comes down to the lack of communication training before being allowed to post in a public forum on behave of Koodo.

As a Supervisor with Loblaw's they would never stand for this. There's a big difference in being professional in your approach to answer questions even if you have to say your answer in a different way because your not understanding the question correctly or the person isn't saying it in a way for you to understand. Either way, it's no excuse for being rude and sarcastic to someone. I'm a little puzzled that Koodo has allowed this post to stay here for 3yrs already.

All that was needed to be said here to the original post was... Hi Rachel, I understand your argument but I'm afraid at this time Koodo's discount policy states that only the account holder is authorized to receive the 25% discount if they are eligible for it. When you are able to become the account holder you may take ownership of your account and apply for the corporate colleague discount.

There are no koodo reps who commented on this thread. If you refer to the mobile masters, all of us are simply customers who have been particularly active/helpful in the community. We are not employed by koodo and our opinions are our own.
