Little to no service since switching from IPhone 4S to 5S

I just switched from a IPhone 4S to an IPhone 5S and I only ever get one or two bars signal strength if im lucky, and considering I live pretty much downtown it should be much better than that. Doesn't matter if im indoors or out, it's almost always one, sometimes it jumps to three for about a half second now and then. Is there something wrong with the phone? I don't even know how to tell.

go into your Settings, choose Cellular...if you see something saying "LTE Enabled" de-select that, and it should improve your signal

So im up to three bars constantly now, but what is LTE anyways, should I need it on?

LTE is faster for data, but for most things 4G or 3G is plenty fast. It also usually shows as fewer dots (or bars) that does 4G or 3G, but gives more than adequate service. I can see the Telus tower from my deck, but only get 2 or rarely 3 dots on my phone. Service is more than adequate with only 1 dot showing.

In the future, voice will also be carried on LTE, but that has not happened yet in Canada.

This is a solution indeed but you won't get any LTE anymore. If it causes you a problem having only 1 bar then do what he suggested. If not, 1 bar should be enough
