I'm trying to update my Lg optimus one, using the Lg Mobile Support Tool. I have already downloaded the support tool and the driver for my cell phone, but when I plus my cell into the computer, it is not being recognized by the support tool. The message says "Disconnected. Please connect your phone." But, my phone is telling me it's connected via usb, to my computer.

if I'm not mistaken you need to not connect the phone in usb storage mode. once you connect the phone don't hit anything on the phone. try and see if that helps

I tried that and it did not work. The only time I was able to get the phone to show that is was connected in the support tool was when I turned it off. So the phone was appearing as if it was connected, but the "start updating" button was not enabled. I realize that would show as not enabled if there were no updates, but I don't think it's possible for there to be no updates, because I've had my phone for over two years, and I've never updated it. I just realized that there was a way to update it. Any ideas?

I have the same phone and haven't been able to get updates for it for a while. Mine is using software version V20a, which, according to the last time I plugged it in to my laptop is the latest software version available for it. If you have that version then I wouldn't worry about it so much, but if you don't, try uninstalling the LG tool and reinstalling it. I hope that helps.

My phone is running Android version 2.21, Kernel version 2.6.32.9, and software version V10v.

I looked it up, and as far as I can tell, there are current updates that I should be able to get for my phone, I just can't get it to connect. I've also tried uninstalling the LG tool, and all the drivers, and re-installing them, still nothing.

Hi Kirby, you need to install the LG Mobile Support Tool on your computer in order to update your phone to version 2.3.3. You can find this tool here: http://koo.do/ViHt0t.

Once you installed it, follow these steps:
- Connect your phone to the computer with a USB cable.
- From your desktop, double-click the LG Mobile update icon.
- Click Start Updating (highlighted in red).

The software update will be installed on the smartphone :)

I decided to try this after seeing your post, and ran into a few snags along the way. I think the most trouble I had was getting the LG driver to install, but I was able to do that by going through the support tool and inputting the phone's IMEI. After that it recognised and connected and said that I had the most recent update. So once you get to V20a you'll be set.

I finally got it to work, and my phone is now updated. I think my problem was that I had my phone set to "only connect as USB storage" when I connect to my computer, so it wasn't recognizing that it's supposed to connect to the driver.

Hey Lando,

Did you try J Currie's steps? It seems that you only need to uncheck Mass storage only (Press the menu icon > Press settings > Press Storage > Select setting for USB connection > Press Mass storage only > Uncheck the box).

Hope this helps.

Thanks
