Heyyo, out of curiosity can a user with a Koodo-only LG V30, can you please post your APN settings? In theory I should be able to achieve VoLTE on my phone by creating an APN settings with the latest VoLTE enabled APN settings on the LG V30.

If you're uncomfortable posting them here, I understand. Could you email it to me please? themard85 **at*** gmail ***dot** com (just doing that to try and avoid spam bots from emailing me too)

hi Marc,
Normally a network settings on your phone would setup your APN automatically.
if it doesn't you could follow the instruction here: https://www.koodomobile.com/help/setting-data-your-non-koodo-phone

VoLTE APN settings can vary which is why on my phone it shows "IMS not registered."

Here's kind of what I mean I would need but for Koodo VoLTE APN settings (which could very well be specific IMS settings I'd need)

@Marc: unless you are having fun, I would not suggest you try it on your phone.

A carrier wouldn't post any information or support posting of it in its official customer forum. They need to test internally and make sure it works properly in their network for each device.

Normal V30 users wouldn't know how to access those data.  Another forum might be a better choice or buy a Koodo V30 to check it out.

@Dinh
I thought it was an innocent enough ask.

@Dennis: I didn't say he/she should not ask.

Curious why you're craving VoLTE so much, what's the huge life changing advantage you're looking for that your phone doesn't do now?

The CD LP and HD tv thing isn't exactly a fair comparison as a phone call your on for a couple minutes out of necessity where those others your listening and watching for pleasure for an extended period of time. I still agree with Timo

@Dennis sorry if I misdirected :)

@Timo well I've survived this far just fine without it.  Definitely didn't expect a backlash here for asking.

@Paul yes I know the analogy was weak.

Okay you guys [except Dennis] win, I'll stop asking about it.  My goodness.

Wow this got really out of hand hahaha... Anywho, the whole idea behind VoLTE is better quality calls, essentially like using Skype, VOIP or FB Messenger or any other data app calling versus traditional phone calls...

The main advantage VoLTE has over Skype and such is it doesn't wreck your mobile data plan which in Canada is a good thing since we have the most expensive data plans in the world (and mobile carriers have the largest profit margins on data plans in the world too)... On a side note, please let's not get into that topic either heh that's something best reserved for more neutral grounds like Reddit or so.

... Now let's not get all ranty please hehe, as the whole point of this topic was to see if it is possible to have VoLTE on Koodo without having to be restricted to only specific devices.

Also, I was just about to say "as soon as a Google Pixel device gets VoLTE support it should be easy to extract it from their open source depositories" and I just noticed updated factory imagea for Pixel 2 series for Telus and Koodo only so odds are it's only a matter of time before the VoLTE IMS APN settings become openly available without needing Koodo or Koodo customers to directly provide them...

I did try to guess a few IMS settings and failed heh they might be a little trickier than other carriers but heck even Verizon and all their closed-mindedness eventually had VoLTE support for the masses and didn't bar themselves in.

So I dunno, we can openly discuss this stuff still about openness or not being open or such...

Besides, even a handful of people on Koodo using Android Open Source Project based ROMs would be an extreme minor, maybe even smaller numbers than LG V30 users for all I know heh but still nice if they'd share openly...

Looks like everyone uses ims as the server...

Maybe check to see that you have VoLTE added on your account?

Lol I dunno if I could get away with it but I just realized other users said they just popped it into an iPhone and the carrier update 32.1 made VoLTE work... Not sure if I could just pop my sim into a demo unit at Best Buy or something and maybe see what happens haha...

Or find a koodo rep with an iphone and say you are "having trouble with your sim" and have them test it in their phone

Heh that might actually work better as they'd already have said carrier update. Interesting! Thanks for the suggestion dude
