lg g5 scratches on front bezel

The front bezel (metal part with lg logo) keeps getting little chips in it.
I have no idea how it happens because I am very careful with my phones.
I used to have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and that phone never got scratched.
I filed down the chips so they didn't scratch but now the front is scratched.
I may be able to get it fixed under warranty but it'll just happen again.

Here is the details of the warranty.  http://help.koodomobile.com/getting-started-with-koodo/before-you-purchase/what-is-your-warranty-and...

Typically physical damages like scratches and cosmetic defects are not covered under warranty.  you best bet would be to contact LG

Hello James,

If you're unsatisfied with your phone, you can have 14 days to return back to the store. I personally never used the phone, and apart from telling you to buy a good case + screen protector, I don't know what to tell you James. Sorry...

It seems like they used a new coating which is why it's scratching more then other phones.

I have an LG G5 as well with an Otterbox Symmetry case and haven't experienced what you are talking about.
I would say get a case or a new one if you already have one on there.
If you have filed your phone you may not be eligible for the warranty as that would be damage done by you but you can always give it a try.

Agreed with Allan, a good case is key. I even order my phone cases before I get my phones because it's not a big expense.

Ebay is your friend.  Sometimes they are even better than brand name cases and at only a fraction of the price

I have a case but it doesn't cover the bezel.
Does the Otterbox Symmetry cover the front bezel?

It doesnt completely cover the bottom part but it has a raised edge around the whole phone so you can scratch or dent the sides.

I got mine on ebay for about $20 with shipping.

I've had the G5 before. Shattered the screen and the metal didn't scratch. I think you've had some bad luck with that one.

Oh well.
LG wants $170 to fix it but it'll just keep happening.

You can replace the part with the LG logo yourself for real cheap. If there are other problems you can find cheap replacement parts and apply them yourself if you are comfortable.

This is embarrassing. :-)
There was another chip but it looked more like something was peeling.
I started looking closer and discovered it was protective cover plastic I didn't remove.
Maybe they should make the plastic orange or something obvious.

I think it also had a thin plastic protector around the edges but maybe that was my Samsung.

I still have (unintentionally) the screen protector on it.
What do you think about needing one?

I have had the one they provide on my device since I've gotten it and it has done fine for me. Same goes for a few of my friends who have done the same thing. If you are prone to dropping your phone a lot you can take a look at tempered glass screen protectors but otherwise I'd say you're fine!

I didn't use a screen protector on my Samsung Galaxy S4.

I'd say you'll be just fine then!
