Hey Xavier, The LG G4 Koodo Carries is the "LGH812" (Model Number) Ill tell you the best way to root it without even unlocking the bootloader!

First Make sure your phone battery is charged to 70% or more, so it doesn't shut down when in process

Make sure you install the LG USB Driver on your PC, if you haven’t already.

http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/...

Backup your device data

Enable USB Debugging, by open Settings > Developers Option > USB Debugging

If Developers Option is hidden, go to Settings->About Phone->Software Info > build number (tap on it for 5-8 times)

Download and Unzip LG Root file on your windows computer. Link: http://d-h.st/uO8h

Download LG G4 H812 Telus/Koodo Variant tar.gz Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showp...

Now to start....

Extract the tar.gz file you downloaded for your phone, and move the resulting “system.rooted.phonemodel.img” file to the root of your phone’s internal SD card with MTP mode.

Boot the device into Download Mode. Power off your device, When the device is powered off, hold volume up and insert a USB cable connected to the PC.

Wait for the drivers to install

After it finishes, double click ports.bat on LG_Root folder (This will give us the COM port in which our device is connected we are looking for the Diag port)

Open LG_Root folder and hold shift and right click on UPDATE SUPERSU and select “Open command window here“

Keep the device in Download mode, and copy+paste following command But replace COM4 with the COM number you found in COM port:

Send_Command.exe \\.\COM4

Type “id” and press enter (no quotes).

Next, run this command:

dd if=/data/media/0/rootedsystem.img bs=8192 seek=65536 count=548352 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0

Wait a few minutes and you should get back a “#” prompt. This indicates the process has finished.

Type “LEAVE” (no quotes) and press enter. Your phone should reboot, and your phone will be rooted.

Congratulations!! Now your LG G4 H812 is rooted. You can verify that your LG G4 H812 is successfully rooted or not by downloading Root Checker App on the Play Store. Hopefully this helped you!

(sorry for the long reply hehe)

My Pleasure helping you! Good Luck With your Rooted LG G4! Also install ROM Toolbox! It removes unwanted apps that come Pre-Loaded with these phones. Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/de...

Once again, Good Luck and have fun! :D

I'm having troubles with the LG Root file (http://d-h.st/uO8h). It downloads, the wizard comes up, and it asks me to start the installation. I allow it to, and then the installer just remains at a grey screen indefinitely. There is no tar.gz file or system.rooted.phonemodel.img file as the LG_Root.zip file won't download. What should I do?

I would find another one if that isn't working for you.

I got it to work, but I have another issue. After typing "Send_Command.exe \\.\COM4", it shows a #. I type "id" without quotes and nothing happens; I can't enter another command.

Edit: I've tried it a few times and sometimes this error doesn't occur. Instead, it just says "FAIL" after "id". I've attached an image that could potentially help.

yes you can root the Canadian version, but you cannot put a custom recovery on it. As the bootloader is locked up tight. If you want to root simply for a custom recovery for access to TWRP/Xposed/Custom Roms, i would recommend getting the LGG4H815 over the H812
