LG G3 Dropping saved Wifi connection

I just purchased two LG G3's. I like the phone and one works fine but the other keeps dropping my home wifi completely. I have excellent signal strength but it drops out so completely that I need to re-enter my wifi key each time I re-connect it. In other words, it completely forgets it's saved wifi connection. Does anyone have similar problem and a known solution. I don't want to have to return the phone but it looks as if I may have to. Thanks

Try going to settings>wifi>advanced and make sure the Wifi frequency band is set to auto.

Dont have a toggle for setting Wifi frequency band to auto. I have tried a soft reboot (removing battery), "forgot" the connection and re-connected and reset my router. Still the same issue. One phone stays connected and one periodically drops the wifi.

most likely you'll need to take it to koodo an they will need to send it to LG to fix WiFi has maybe malfunction personly dude I'd start looking for a new provider just seen what koodo did with the tab That's it im. done if there gonna be like that gonna go to a provider that's least gives protection plans an better prices an doesn't charge 15$ extra on are bill wtf no other carrier does that Koodo sold out

Go with telus and pay 120 for the same plan and be stuck in a 2 yr contract where you have to pay off the balance of your phone to cancel early. I think ill stick with koodo and save 60 bucks a month, despite the not as good reception.

I am having a similar issue. Everytime i leave wifi range and come back into range of wifi it wont log back on to the wifi automatically. I have to open the wifi settings and retype the password for the wif to get it to connect.

check to make sure that in advanced wifi settings that you have "keep wi-fi on when screen is off" says YES.

If you have access, go into your router settings and assign a fixed IP address to each of the phones by using the phone mac addresses.

Sometimes reserving a place at the table where they don't have to ask for an invitation will help things out.

It does it everywhere I use wifi not just at home. My old phone would always connect to any saved wifi when I was in range.

I would then do a factory reset, if your data is backed up.

If the problem persists, return it for repair.

Quick fix (not a solution):

1) root phone
2) install supersu, busybox and build prop editor
3) search for the line 'Wifi.lge.patch' in the build prop and change the value to false. Save and reboot

Obviously not ideal and really should have been noticed before selling the phone on Koodo but at least following the steps above the hotspot will save, it won't auto reconnect however

I've seen that and one other fix for this problem. They both involve rooting, does that not good the phones warranty?

Don't want to be accused of piling on but similar problems reported on French Community site as well.

If you can still return or postpone a purchase, I would wait until the dust settles. A phone with no reliable wifi is going to make a big sucking sound in your wallet.

I don't have this issue with my G3. I've had it for a month or so (I'm with Telus). I've also sold a bunch of them to customers on other carriers before and we haven't had to send one out for repair yet. Seems to be the Koodo G3s affected by this?

Users in the states have reported the same issue. So far the only fix seems to involve rooting the phone.

We asked our Koodo liason and this is the answer we got.

we have identified the issue and working on a resolution that will be deployed in an upcoming software update. I wouldn't suggest a phone swap, as I reproduced the issue on all 4 G3 I tested

Broken wifi functionality is a deal breaker for me. I have a limited time from purchase to return the phone so if there is no word from Koodo in the next few days i will likely swap it for a Nexus 5.

Bad news everybody. I just got off the phone with Koodo and it looks like there is indeed a bug with the software on this phone. They put in a request with LG to get it fixed for the next software release. LG's next software release is at least one month away and as long as 3 months away. However there is no guarantee LG will fix this bug on the next release as there has been reports of this bug that go back to Summer 2014. So it looks like I'll be swapping this one in.

So, I got the LG G3, and at first I had that wifi bug.. When I left the koodo sim card in the device, and restarted, the wifi SSID and password gone.

Anyway Long story short.

I had to unlock the phone today because I am going on Vacation..

So i put my europe sim card to test it.. My wifi was still on.. I shut off the phone, and restarted it.. and guess what?

WIFI name and password was still there.

So i restarted again.. and WIFI was present.

I took the koodo sim card and put it in, restarted the DEVICE,, and wifi password GONE. what the heck..

Something is going on with the KOODO sim card and WIFI connection on this phone... it makes it forget.

I second John K and Chad Burr comments. Unlocked my Koodo Note II, used a US carrier and with their SIM, APN and some preferences were gone. Had to edit a new APN and establish new preferences to get stuff working, but one hiccup later, everything fine for 4 months.

When I came back to Canada, stuffed old Koodo SIM back in and old APN and preferences were back, but I had to reboot the unit with the battery pulled a few times to get its head clear (was still working with old time zone, was looking for older carrier, etc.)

SIM is the key to network, but also to certain reserved files on the phone.

I have the same issue, i just got my lg g3 and just signed up to koodo 4 days ago. i am really liking the LG phone but its annoying that i have to re enter my wifi everytime i restart my phone. Also it does not reconnect when i go from home to work.

Also noticed under battery, if you set battery saver on, after a reboot it auto turns it off also. Find it very annoying, frustrating.

after doing some research on other sites and carriers looks like lg g3 had an issues once upgraded to lollipop 5.0.2. Lots of users on US Carriers like Verison have issues with wifi browsing the web being very slow, also battery drains a lot faster, others the phone will just restart randomly. Adding in the wifi problems, i will be switching my phone out for the nexus 5. its older yes but at least it works. I have talked to support and they told me to do the same thing. We could be over a month before we see an update and being that the list of issues are large no telling if the whole OS needs to be redesigned. Since the new G4 game out i dont think LG is looking at it last years phone that closely.

Hi Baduy, does the screen rotation issue only happens with You Tube? I assume that auto-rotate is on in your settings but can you double check (Settings > Display)? Thank you!

Hello Yannick, thanks for trying to help!!
Yes, it's only on YouTube. I haven't notice it on any other apps. Also the screen rotation is on! Never disable it. I'm going to see, if it happens again with the new update. Maybe the new update fix it! Also, hopefully fix my issue with the batery life cuz I have to charge it twice a day! I'm used to it with my other phones but I wasn't expecting that with this one! Thanks again

Hi
I bought my lg g3 2 months ago and because of the pass issue one of the suggestions was rooting , unfortunately i root it , now I found that I can't update it and i can't even unroot it and the hard reset won't let it back to original frameware, is there any koodo stock frameware that i can put it again to the original setting, thanks

No, the only firmware I could find was for Rogers, Bell and Videotron. I did find a possible solution on XDA Developers that should help.

You dont need Koodo stock firmware, any stock firmware will be fine. My friend was on Virgin on the same phone and did not have the wifi issues. you can try this forum on xda

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showt...

He is running the latest nightly build of CyanogenMod on G3 and WOW it is fast, almost considering trashing the LG flavor Rom.
