Larger font for profile set up warning

I posted something like this before and bumped it a couple months ago but it was ignored, not by GS or Koodo.

To sum it up, there needs to be a better warning system when people are creating profiles as I still see people posting their phone numbers, emails, and account numbers. Call it selfish but I would prefer not to receive calls from customers who have account that were comprimised as a result lol

As we all know, it is very easy to use posted information to one's advantage. For the safety of the customer and further progress in the community, larger fots for the warning, bold letters, flashing lights...anything to better tell the people creating profiles not to post personal details.

Maybe a filter that just parses posts for phone numbers and email addresses?

That might work well. If the filter detects personal information it would present a warning about the information being displayed in a public forum. The user could then continue or cancel. Users who continue maybe would have a copy of their post sent to a moderator to scan over it.

Another question is why can't the original poster edit or remove their post? In this case a post flagged by the filter could be edited to remove the personal information. So if there is a good reason not to allow users to edit their post they could still change their post to relabel "my number is (555) 555-5555 ..." to (XXX) XXX-XXXX or something.
Maybe Mobile Masters could also initiate this change with the original poster having the option to restore the original post if they deem it incorrect.

Oh blast, now I have told everyone my 555 number on a public forum ... Where is the edit button?

In my (very humble) opinion, there comes a point at which people need to be aware of themselves... I agree with your idea TylerC and I also agree with Timo's suggestion, but I still believe people need to pay a bit more attention. It's not really rocket science to post on a forum, send an e-mail or place a phone call. It's 2013 after all...

After the many forums I was in aside from the Koodo one, I still get surprised now and again...

lol... I do to, many times :P It's just that people complain about privacy, but go ahead and write their info on forums without giving it second thoughts... that's like, wth? hehe

The main problem is that people come to Get Satisfaction & Facebook thinking that they are talking directly to a Koodo agent 1 on 1. That's the disconnect and that needs to be resolved.
