I have an iPhone 5 that is unlocked. If i were to bring my phone and to use it under this carrier, what plans do they have to offer? and how does the "tab" work? Does it apply to unlocked phones?

If you bring your own phone, you can pick any plan from Lightweight plans or Heavyweight plans.

Tab is like an interest free loan. So, if you want to upgrade your phone and want to pay less upfront, you can put up to $360 on the tab. Then you pay monthly tab charge next 24 minth to pay down your tab.

Say if you have $30 plan and want to to buy a $360 phone. You pay $0 upfront and put $360 on the tab.
Your monthly bill will be: $30(plan) + $15(tab charge).

If you pay more upfront, it will be less monthly tab charge.

As long as its at least a 9xxx model of a BlackBerry and takes a sim card, it should work. Older ones (8xxx) will only work on Rogers.

Koodo will activate the account no problem, it's whether or not the phone will work

Which phone exactly ? If yo want to switch over don't cancel and call Koodo to port over. Solomobile is a name I haven't been in a while. So long as it's not a CDMA phone it just needs to be unlocked. I assume that they charge 35 so it'll be cheaper to go to a third party service like on ebay.
