Do NOT go to Koodo in the Chinook Center in Calgary, Alberta. They charged me $500 for a Samsung Galaxy S3. Koodo website says $150 with tab, or $300 without for the S3. Koodo is refusing to give me a refund for the difference!

They charged you when? Within the last 15 days?

I believe there is a 14 day refund policy

This is impossible.

1. Koodo has reduced the retail amount for the phone on their end so a Koodo shop will obviously be the "official" outlet for their products. There's no way they can just magically charge you $500 for the phone when the website says otherwise. Even retailers have to abide by that price and usually offer better deals with gift cards on new acts to begin with!

2. Secondly, how on earth did you not know what you were signing/getting into when you were at the store? They didn't hold a gun to your head and said you had to take it. You could have showed them the website before you bought the phone!

-"They charged me $500 for a Samsung Galaxy S3"

What tab did you/they use? How much is on the tab? How much did you pay upfront? Did they charge you as a prepaid price( $450 plus tax)?

Add : Also did you get an S4 by accident?

This is possible.

1. They charged me $500 for the phone and $35 for an Outterbox case. I paid with debit, so I have record. I purchased it on April 15, 2014. The odd thing is (and I didn't notice it at the time) the debit is for $535 exactly. No cents...

2. I'm not a fan of fancy phones, so I do not follow them, at all. My old phone of four years (Samsung T746, loved that thing, nearly indestructible) broke randomly at work and I needed a new phone. My job requires me to have one, so I went straight to the mall after work. A colleague has the S4, and I liked it, so I figured I would get it.
I told the Koodo representative I wanted to buy a phone outright because I was using the 10% discount per month for providing my own. They told me because of some policy I couldn't use the tab, so it would be the full price. Something like $700 or $800. I couldn't justify that for a phone. I asked about the next model down and she pulled out the S3. Looked pretty much the same to me. I inquired about a rugged case, because of work. She suggested the Otterbox Defender, to which I agreed. So I bought them both and was happy for a few weeks.

I jump on Koodo's website today just to see if they're having any promotions, and I notice the S3 is $300 with no tab. GOD DAMMIT: I thought, since I knew my 15 days were up. Out of curiosity, I visited the Koodo website using the Internet Wayback Machine. And sure enough, on March 20, 2014, the S3 was indeed $300 with no tab.

So now I'm a bit angry. I full on got ripped off. How can Koodo charge one price online, and a different in store? So I called. The Koodo representative on the phone told me there was nothing they could do and I would have to go back to the store. So, I went back to the store. The person working wasn't the same one I dealt with before. They told me I was outside of my 15 day period, so there was nothing they could do. Pass the buck, pass the buck...

I understand I am out of my regular return period. I don't want to return the phone. But this is plain old highway-robbery. Just because I wasn't informed of Koodo's online pricing gives them the right to overcharge in-store? I don't think so.

If the phone was $500 when I bought it, then went on sale for $300 afterwards, outside of the 15 days, I agree I would be out-of-luck. BUT IT WAS $300 ONLINE WHEN I PAID $500 IN-STORE!

I am suspicious the original transaction may have been fraudulent. Seeing as the exact amount charged was $535, where's the tax?

EDIT: And yes, It is indeed the Samsung Galaxy S3.i747m

Do you still have a receipt as well as a bank statement/record indicating that Koodo has withdrawn $535 from you? Then I would call Koodo again or e-mail them, and ask to investigate your situation.
You can use this link to e-mail them.

Thank-you Mayumi and Vincent for your responses. I contacted support using the links provided and I got a call from the Koodo Mobile District Manager of Calgary. She told me she found the transaction and agreed there was a mistake made (something about pre-paid pricing accidentally being applied) and I will be getting a partial refund. We setup a time for me to go back to the same Koodo store when that store's manager is working. He has been made aware of the situation and will be expecting me.

I'm happy. Thanks, Koodo! And thank-you again to those with helpful responses!

Follow up:

I went back to the store I originally purchased the phone at the arranged time and spoke with the store Manager. He was very nice and quite apologetic. He refunded the difference and waved the cost of the accessory for my troubles.

So, it was a bit of a headache, but Koodo made it right once the correct people were informed. All in all, I'm satisfied.

Thank you, Koodo.

I think it would be appropriate if an admin removed "Not" from this topic's subject line.
