Koodo vs. Telus LTE (Data) Speeds

I am not sure if this topic has been created in the past or not, I couldn't find it and therefore posting it.

I know and understand that koodo is a subsidiary of telus and runs off of telus/bell towers. I have heard from a lot of people that koodo doesn't received same data speeds as Telus because Koodo is Telus' lower end brand. Is that true in any way? Has any one of you actually tested speeds in the same area on the same phone with both sims to see if they actually get the same speeds or not? Stores in the malls always claim that they both have same network and speeds, but a lot of people on koodo claim that they don't get data speeds as they did with telus. Please share your thoughts.

Thank you,

Not true :) Speed is exactly the same, in fact I'm getting the same speed even on Koodo prepaid. Lots of factors decide the speed such as location, type of phone and cell coverage, but not whether you use TELUS or Koodo.

Or Public Mobile as far as I can tell.

Not to mention how many people happen to be using the same cells in the area around you. I was recently at a large concert in Hamilton and the UMTS network just couldn't handle it. So I switched to LTE and was fine, since a lot less people access the LTE network.

This is an extreme example since I just couldn't connect. If there were less people around, I'd probably just have a reduced speed.

phew! I know that speeds and reception depends on the type of phone, coverage, and how far away you are from the tower, but i just wanted to see if anyone actually had tested this and got negative results as people are claiming.

I just didn't want to regret the port to koodo :)

99.9% of the anecdotal "evidence" you may hear is not based in fact, probably including what I just stated. Ask anyone making a claim to cite their detailed figures and test conditions....

Koodo = Telus = Bell in Eastern Canada as far as towers are concerned. All providers are now forced to provide extended roaming in Canada, so if you are with a major provider, speed is mainly NOT an issue.

There are other sites that report mainly non-conclusive results from those who have GB to burn doing speed tests on pay-per-use mobile! You can rest assured that if someone was the undisputed champion, we would have heard of it here by now.

The bottom line is if you visit a kiosque in a mall, and test your phone with Rogers, Bell, Telus and/or Koodo, you will probably get the same results.

I just joined koodo coming from rogers using an unlocked s6 edge. Max I got was 28mbps average is 4mbps. Is this normal? I'm in GTA in mississauga and etobicoke area. I heard some were getting 80 to 90 mbps with koodo lte. With rogers I was getting 60 to 100 so I thought it would be same. I have the apn settings as described on koodo and still can't achieve those results. Can someone help?
