You would get the 40 dollar international add-on if you need a little bit of talk time. It includes 50 minutes, 50 outgoing sms, and 50 MB of data. The pay-per-use rate is 1.50 per minute. If you need more than that I would get a prepaid AT&T Mexico Sim card as they're actually the cheapest in Mexico.

I got a Cricket SIM in US and I have unlimited everything in US, Canada, Mexico. With VOIP I can talk for hours everywhere in the World for Pennies.

Only thing is cricket requires that in any three month period that at least half of your usage be based in the US.

Claro que si. You are right. But you can get a Mexican SIM from AT&T (AT&T bought a couple of Mexican providers), you can get 10 GB for 80$ and VOIP, for very little you can get a phone number in Mexico, one in USA, one in Canada (for the benefit of your callers) and, again, you can speak for hours with no headache for the cost.
