$49 for 5GB, $56 for 6GB in Quebec.

The other 2 offer $49 for 6GB, $56 for 8GB.

Choose Happy. Try to stay Happy knowing you are getting less.

Isn't RoBeLUS supposed to offer the exact same plans so that Canadians don't have any choice?

Actually for the most part, at the time of writing this, Fido, Virgin and Koodo have a variety of different prices for all their plans.
Example:
$30/month, 100MB, 100Min
Koodo: $30
Fido: $40
Virgin: $45

You can try contacting Koodo and asking to match the offer, there was one community member who did this and got it matched but there is no guarantee. I don't work for Koodo so I can't speak for what kind of deal they will do for you.

that is not a very good idea when the intention is to exploit the out-of-province plan loophole.

It's $60 for 1 gb in BC. 2 gb is $65 or $70 depending on the minutes. Don't have 8 gb, but for 7 gb it is $110 and for 10 gb it is $130. These prices are crazy.

the sad part about it is that the actual cost to provide that data is the exact same regardless of where in Canada you are.  koodo makes its money off the backs of Ontario and BC, but as Quebec has a provincial sponsored cell phone company, the prices get discounted to compete with them.

That's really expensive.... I was going to refer a friend, but I don't think they will come over to Koodo at these prices.... Does anyone think that they will bring back the specials?

Specials will continue to occur at irregular intervals, in all likelihood.

We need pricing to increase in the rest of Canada, to make it a more appealing market for new entrants. If these new entrants can be establised wireless service providers from other countries, they could enter the Canadian market and bring change for real.

Have the incumbents increase prices so if new entrants arrive, their pricing seem cheap by comparison?

Exactly. Then once the new entrants have enough market share, the incubents will lower their prices. We need our market to be super attractive to new entrants (exhorbant expensive plans) to justify the infrastructure/network deployment costs.

There are regulations that make it difficult for foreign companies to enter the wireless market here. ROBELUS is basically a government protected oligopoly, and they also got a lot of free help from the government in the beginning. No company in their right minds would try Canada after the WIND fiasco.
Remember when there were rumors about Verizon(?) coming to Canada a few years ago? TELUS and others were making ads, crying about how Canadian jobs would be lost if they came to Canada. TELUS itself is in the business of removing Canadian jobs: https://www.telusinternational.com/ Hypocrites.
One customer service rep even said to me: "but we have been doing that for years," trying to defend TELUS. Now that deserves a serious facepalm.

I love it. I would like to see more expensive rate plans, and bigger incentives for new activations :D
