Well, after weeks of testing and trying different unlocked iPhones with sims from Koodo, Rogers, Eastlink, and Bell I have come to the conclusion the Koodo/Telus SMS/MMS gateways are what I refer to as "Summer" gateways, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I have tested the Bell gateway and not one test failed to deliver a text. Rogers was also near perfect except it asks you for confirmation before presenting the text. Refer to my initial thread relating to not being able to get alarm notification from my home alarm on my Koodo prepaid.

Based on my research Koodo prepaid was the best deal that I could find. I love it except without the ability to get my home alarm notifications it doesn't serve my number one need. My home alarm provider confirmed they were sending the notifications and I have no reason to doubt them, they were all received on my unlocked iPhone with Rogers, Bell, & Eastlink sims loaned to me by friends. With my Koodo sim using the Koodo gateway I got none. With my Koodo sim and Telus gateway I received every notification for a 24 hour period, then nothing. I've tested at least five different free text sites and Bell, Rogers, and Eastlink sims in my iPhone and got 100% of the sent texts. Koodo gateway was minimal success and Telus was better but only about 70% success.

Once my Koodo prepaid minutes and data runs out I guess I will be forced back to Bell, Rogers, or Eastlink so I can get my home alarm notifications.

Hey Ed,

I have forward your issue to our Koodo contact.

At this point, they will share this post post with the appropriate Koodo team to see if they can discover anything out of the ordinary.

Hey Ed,

Do you have a website for the alarm company?  The company could have been blocked by Koodo and they are looking for a little more details regarding this alarm company.

Hi Dennis,

The alarm company is a huge manufacturer of securty products called The Risco Group. www.riscogroup.com I can access my home alarm through a web interface at www.riscocloud.com because my alarm has an IP board in it. Strange thing happened this morning around 9:00AM Eastern time, I started getting sms text notifications again from my alarm system whenever I armed or disarmed the system. Got about 8 sms texts. Now, nothing. I was using the mynumber@msg.telus.com gateway. The notifications are more than 160 characters, probably close to 800 characters. Maybe the Koodo folks did something to unblock the alarm notifications for a brief period this morning. I was somwhat encouraged to receive those messages this morning.

Thanks for your effort helping me with this issue.

Just reading through the issue and the forum. Have same problem. Even upgraded to a new cellphone just because I thought mine was too old. Please look into ALL the other companies offering now security systems. Our is "alarm.com". Please include this in your list.

Can I check somewhere if Koodo took care about that matter?

Are your texts from your alarm company getting blocked?
