For those of you switching over from Public Mobile, it seems that Koodo is intentionally delaying the shipment of SIM cards. They claim that it is busy and there is a 10 business day backlog, but others have been receiving shipping confirmations of phones merely hours after their online order.

This leads me to believe that Koodo in intentionally delaying the shipment of the SIM cards in order to prevent people from being able to activate their Public Mobile migration promo plan in time -- this way they will have less time to create a self serve account and subsequently refer others to get the $100 credit.

Sneaky!

Figures... coming from the same company behind the Public Mobile debacle...

It's not a ploy it's real and happens when great offers come around and a huge wave of new customers an upgrades hit.
It depends on your location as Koodo has multiple warehouses so one could be caught up and get something out quicker than thr other.

@"Frustrated":
I don't understand what you want to do with the claim. Koodo always posted the delay message when they are having big promotions. Last year, they also had those issues and same message.

Can you post your order number here. Someone can check and track it for you.

To my knowledge, the verification code for the Public Mobile migration order gets entered at the time you place the order. The sim card (should) arrive already activated, barring a significant bottleneck, in which case it may get processed a day or so later. The point is that you qualify when you place the order, not when you receive it.
The $100 referral offer is also available to all koodo customers as far as I know. There would be little advantage to koodo in trying to prevent only those migrating from PM from taking advantage.

It was confirmed to me over the phone that the SIM card still needs to be activated once it arrives.

I placed the order for the SIM card on the day the offer was made available, March 6. It still hasn't shipped, and the web store wasn't able to verify anything for me. Finally, after calling again today, they told me that they THINK it will get shipped out on Monday, March 12. By the time I receive the SIM and subsequently activate it, it will likely be the 14th or worse the 15th - the date the promo expires. This leaves no time to set up a self serve account to send referrals to others wanting to take advantage of the promo.

I highly doubt that the backlog is that great, especially when others are receiving shipping confirmations of phones merely hours after placing the order online. It's just a single SIM card - it really doesn't seem like it should take a whole week just to get it sent out, even if things are busy.

I think you made things complicated yourself. You could just post your order number here and make an inquiry about your case.

If you lose out on the $100 credit due to a delay on Koodo's end, it would be reasonable for Koodo to still honour it's promotion.  Otherwise complaints will go to the CRTC like they did with the Public Mobile price increase.  And we all know how that turned out

@Dinh, just curious - if I post my order number here would that expedite the shipping of my SIM card? If not I'm not sure how things are being made more complicated.

@Frustrated: I asked you first, in the previous post. What do you want to do with the thread ? Can you address it?

If it was all about your order, then normally people  posted their orders here to ask. (If you searched through the forum, that is what people did)

Ok, i see what you mean now. Sorry if that was confusing - I had already called Koodo prior to posting, so they had already checked on my order number (but were still just guessing as to the shipping date).

Update: I just received an email with the tracking number (not logged yet, but the tracking number has at least been created). So it looks like it should be sent out shortly.

I still feel like it's atypical for a company to take that long though - I get that there might be a backlog but I think I was likely one of the first group of people to have placed the order. I feel bad for others that ordered later...

@Frustrated - out of curiosity, where are you located.  There's someone else (in BC) in another conversation who's waiting on a PM SIM as well.

Hi, I'm located in Ontario (Toronto). I just received the email that the tracking number has been created (but it's not active yet). I placed the order on Tuesday, March 6 after Public Mobile sent out the text regarding the promo plan offer.

My tracking# (issued around 5pm EST) hasn't gone past initial creation either - the package hasn't been inducted into Canada Post yet.  It will be interesting to see the shipping origin when it does.
Since you contacted Koodo, it could be they fixed some glitch holding things up for you, or applied some grease to a squeky wheel... :)

It could be the mailroom being backed up.

That could be a good thing. If it gets there too fast you might create more conspiracy theories on why that happened.

Boo! :-(

I ordered a SIM on March 6, myself, and wanted to sign my wife up under my account to get the $200 total referral. It's indeed unfortunate that the offer was pulled as I waited for the card to ship.

Time to break out my tinfoil hat.

Wow - that's ridiculous! I don't think the conspiracy theories are out of line at all....

Really disappointed in Koodo.
