I owned a Galaxy Note II from Koodo with a basic plan. If I go to India for vacation, can I buy the local SIM card there and use the phone in local?

Hey!

Yeah your phone will work out there. However, you'll have to have the phone unlocked if you haven't already.

If you've been with Koodo for more than 90 days they will give you the unlock code if you call. A $35 fee will apply though.

Hope this helps and have a safe trip!

General answer:

Go to the Koodo roaming page.

Choose your country from the drop-down. If you can roam, you can use a local carrier as well. Try their web sites for local rates if you like. The number of options in India are staggering. The screen shot below only have about 1/3 of them.

Don't forget to purchase your Koodo unlock code before leaving.

Thank you so much guys. I never though about unlocking the phone. Its a great thing I raised my question in the Koodo Community. Thank you again, I will have it unlocked before I go.
