I left koodo yesterday. Fido offered me a plan the same as koodo but with $ 0.01 min calling the us. Then they gave me the same plan but with 2 gb. Koodo wouldn't give me a $10 add on for free. And the other offers Koodo offered were $75/$65 for 2gb/1gb. Current offers were better for 1gb on the website. Wow....they just said if you don't like these offers i will transfer you to our cancel dept. So to recap....fido gave a new customer a better deal than Koodo. And koodo said basically go away. Politely though. Is this a different company? Yes...they don't care about keeping customers.

Very sorry to see our going! But Koodo doesn't work with retention plans. Neither does Fido. It's all about the offers they are currently having

and as soon as Wind begins to open up some of the spectrum they've acquired through the auctions and being purchased by Shaw Communications, their rate plans will go up.

Exactly Jru! I see both Wind and Mobilicity have backed off the promise of "unlimited data" by placing a cap on "full speed data" and stating that any usage beyond the cap may be at a lower speed.

with Wind any usage above the Cap is down to 2G speeds

Well Wind Covers more than half of Canadians. Either you go with area for everyone or you go with population for everyone. It is not fair to say that Koodo covers 98% of Canadians but Wind covers only 20% of Canada. Koodo and the rest of the major carriers only cover perhaps 20% of the country by area themselves.

It is unfortunate that Koodo seems to be the only incumbent that does not offer any sort of retention plan, however given that their churn Rate is so low as others have said, they seem to not feel the need to have any

I'm not sure why people feel Koodo gives that happy happy joy joy feeling. The only diff is a flashy website. Did i miss something? i never got asked out to dinner by koodo. It was good reception and if their deals get competitive i will switch back but as of now the plans are a poor offering. I'm glad you guys are happy. What is it about them though I'm curious

Just out of curiosity, what plan did you get from Fido?

I was with Fido for 6 years prior to joining Koodo.  Fido retention did not care about my loyalty when I found myself with an unusable phone (Galaxy SIII with a bad charging port) and only four months left on my contract.  They offered to waive off the remaining balance on my phone ($28, big deal) and put me on an in-market plan ... no perks whatsoever.

One thing I like about Koodo is they segregate the price of the phone from the price of the plan.  For example, say you want it all -- finance a Galaxy S7 Edge with unlimited calls, messaging, and 10GB of data.  You will pay $500 down and $150/month with both Fido and Koodo, however, after 24 months when your phone is paid off, you will still pay $150/month with Fido, but your Koodo bill will drop to $129/month.  With Koodo, the balance remaining on your phone is always transparent.  With Fido, the balance remaining is a mystery ... you have to call Fido to get that info.

I pay 34$ for 2Gb of data and ltd everything? Promo I got around christmas? I got alway satisfying customer service. I'm happy with them. They gave me no reason to leave because they always matched the plans from Fido. Here in QC at least.

I have 2 gb unltd talk and text and the other stuff. $45 + $5 addon for $0.01 min usa calls.
Not sure what you mean by phone payments not dropping after payments are done. Did i misunderstand? Fido does it too. I don't really favor one over the other really. My wifes service has always been good so i joined fido too. But like i said they sure did not try to keepe at all. i have friends with rogers and fido and the deals they got with a litle googling is great
Options i guess vs this is it mentality. I'm not boycotting just saying if Koodo is different i sure didn't notice any difference. Other friends also same thing. Nothing different.

M Al, in my example above, I was referring to Fido's current 10GB "Max" plan in Ontario.  That plan will cost you $150 indefinitely.  It does not drop after 24 months (when your phone will be paid off).  With Koodo, their 10GB Tab Plus Plan costs $129 + $21 Tab charge, so $150 total.  Once the phone is paid off in 24 months, you only pay the $129.
