Koodo Activation vs. Billing Cycle

Hi,

I bought the Koodo sim card with the 6GB for $40 promo plan while the deal was on for Public Mobile users.

I was wondering if I had to activate my Koodo sim card while the promo was going on, or since I purchased the deal while the promo was on, I'm still guaranteed the 6GB $40 deal.

The reason why I ask is because I know Public Mobile does not refund unused days of cellular service, so I want to transfer my parents over when they are closer to their next billing cycle.

Did I lose the Koodo deal because I ordered but didn't activate during the promo period? Or am i still guaranteed it?

And also, how about Koodo billing? Does it begin when I order the sim card? Or does it begin when I activate my sim card?

Thanks

hi Joo Min,
Where did you buy the SIM, did you buy the SIM with the Koodo migration code through their website? If you bought the SIM out of the store, it won't guarantee anything. Anyone can buy a SIM.

And the migration deal is still on. it is not over yet. Koodo pay $100 credit to compensate for any minute left in PM accounts. I wouldn't wait until it is too late, if you want to transfer.

The billing start when you receive the service (receiving an activation email) .

I got the sim card online and checked off the promo deal with my promo code at the time of purchase.
So, it seems like there is no point of waiting for my parents' current public mobile billing cycle to end because they are being charged for both public and Koodo regardless currently?

If you have received a Koodo activation email, you should create a self-serve account and check when the Koodo plan started.

And Yes, if your SIM was activated, you are paying 2 plans (Koodo and PM) at the moment. For moving your PM number to Koodo, you could do it in Koodo selfserve.

I have purchased the sim cards but I haven't opened them yet, so no sim activation yet... Koodo did send me a new Koodo number via email though so I'm assuming the plans have started already.
Kinda sucks that Public Mobile wouldn't refund you unused days of service..
I guess I will have to activate the sim cards and transfer the phone numbers asap then since there's no point of waiting.

More than likely your Sim was sent to you already activated since they also sent you your new Koodo number. The only reason it wouldn't have been activated was because they were so busy during this promo and it was just missed. Try putting them in to see.

@Joo Min,

As per what Dinh said, the $100 bill credit from Koodo is to help compensate for any Public Mobile time lost due to switching over

if you are on the 90 days/120$ they give you 100$ bill credit to cover the lost days. That should compensate for the migration in the middle of your PM cycle. Promo code came on the text: GOKOODO406GB; it only works if your phone number is on the list/database of that specific promo.

Yes, everyone in my family received the text message from Public Mobile with the Koodo promo code so that's how I ordered all the sim cards.
I've already transferred over to Koodo a few weeks ago but my parents haven't because we thought we could save some money by waiting til the end of Public billing cycle.

Unfortunate turn of events because if I had known, maybe I would have had my parents stay on Public Mobile and not switch over to Koodo.. They don't even use up their 12GB/90days limit and pay roughly $30 per month..

You could return the SIM and  Koodo plan if you are within 15 days of receiving it.

There are some benefits of going with Koodo postpaid like accessing to phone and Canada-wide minutes. But if your parents are casual users and happy with PM, they could stay there also.

The original Public plan is no longer available
