Keep Paid-off "No Tab" Account; Not Buy My New Phone From Koodo.

I want to keep my paid-off tab/$30.00 per month account (positive tab of $80 stopped growing). I want to buy a phone outright from any seller. My account is now termed a "no tab" account. Will the account and payment remain the same? Thank you.

Yes.
You can use the site willmyphonework.net to check that the phone you are considering will work with Koodo.

Thank you. My main concern is keeping my $29.00 per month grandfathered Koodo plan with unlimited Canada-wide family calling (identical phones under my account for my co-habitating brother and me), 200 min. airtime, unlimited messaging, voicemail, etc. I'll gladly forego the $80 positive tab balance to avoid Koodo forcing me into a higher rate plan if I buy a phone thru them (unfair!). A phone bought elsewhere has no strings attached. A local Koodo kiosk guy told me that I would have to pay for a higher usage plan if I upgraded to a flagship phone model thru them. I'll never give up my current grandfathered plan. Do I have to take a higher plan if I bring my own phone? Thank you!

Nope, if you bring your owm phone you can simply put the sim card into it and all is good!

Just to add, you can do the same if you buy the phone from Koodo outright. The only way you'd have to change your plan would be if you financed it using the tab.

O.K., Timo, that's helpful to know as well. Thanks, and please watch for my fm radio post to be created soon.

Thank you Allan! I shall now look for a suitably-matched make and model on willmyphonework.net as Timo Tuokkola, Mobile Master has kindly suggested.
