I don't want to be charged for data while I'm on Wifi

I'm relatively new at this. I've never actually used Wi-Fi on a Blackberry before (since I used to use the Blackberry Social add-on on my previous BB, so I never had to worry about data since it was unlimited.) So I'm not sure what I'm to do. I have gotten onto my home's Wi-Fi network, however, I don't want to be charged for data while I'm on Wi-Fi. Is there something that I need to do in order to not be charged?

Also, on my old Blackberry, there was an option where I could have Facebook refreshing every hour as opposed to every 5 minutes or whatever it is. I want to be able to save my battery's power. Is this option also on the Z-10? I can't seem to find it.

Any answers or tips would be great. :)

If wifi is on, you won't be charged for data. If you are really concerned, under Network Connections -> Mobile the turn Data services off.
The really nice thing with Koodo is you can check usage within a few hours in self serve with any associated costs, to ease your mind.

This message came up saying "Wi-Fi Connection Limited" then "To fully access the internet, connect to another network" so I'm not sure what that's about. Do you know?

In that case I would have to say your not getting Internet through your wifi and your just conected to your routers network and not benefiting from the Internet. Try doing something while it shows that limited connection and then after check out your usage status but wait a bit for it to update. My experience with bb is they always had an issue connecting to wifi networks not sure why but only the 9790 seem to work flawlessly for me.

I figured it out! It just took a couple minutes for it to sync up to my Wifi network. It's working just fine now. Thank you for your help :)

I have my BB Z10 set to not download anything unless I am connected to wifi. I believe that works, as I have tried to download a couple of times, when not wifi connected, and rec'd a message stating I would have to change my settings if I wanted to download.
I am almost always connected to wifi, as I have it at home and at work. What I don't understand, is that my Koodo usage is showing 200 Mbs, but if I am almost using wifi exclusively, how can that be? Also, I don't watch movies and hardly ever watch even a short video.
Any hints on how to troubleshoot this, would be appreciated.

Hey Gordco, you should go under Settings - Network Connections - Mobile Network - and then turn Data Services off. Then you won't be getting charged while you go on wifi.

Thks, meems, I'll try that. So does that mean if I don't have a wifi connection that data won't work?

Also, to address your 2nd point, Facebook pushes content to your phone which is a lot more efficient than your phone syncing at a predetermined interval.

Your battery life's gonna suck on your Z10 compared to your previous BBs, but you should still be able to make it last until the evening, which is pretty much all you can expect from any modern smartphone: charging every night.
