Check with Koodo by dialing 1-866-995-6636, from a landline phone to see if there are any network problems in your area.

Power off the phone, remove the battery and SIM card. Reinstall the SIM card and battery after a couple of minutes, then power on the phone.

Another option is to reset the phone. This will completely wipe the phone and restore the device back to factory default settings (see instructions and warning below, click on image to enlarge).

If you're in the market for a new phone, you may want to take a look at Koodo's phone line up. I recommend the Moto G for its speed and reliability, plus an affordable price tag.

Good advice, just wanted to point out that the intensity is a cdma device and doesn't have a sim card.

I removed the battery for a couple of minutes, cleaned the contacts and blew out any grime. So far, no one is complaining about duplicate messages.

Great to hear Brenda! Glad one of the options worked (minus the SIM card removal) as Timo pointed out.
