I got an LG Nexus 5 from Koodo and my tab is completely paid off. Do I have to unlock it (pay 35$) to use it on another network / country?

Recently I used Roam Mobility and Telgo SIM cards without problem when traveling to the US. So I know it can work on other SIM cards. Just want to make sure that this was not just a US-Canada thing and that I would be able to use it in other countries too.

Thanks.

The Nexus 5 always comes unlocked, it's never locked. When a device is unlocked it is unlocked to work on any carrier in the world that uses the frequencies it supports. It may work and may not work over seas as it might not support the network frequencies of the carriers of the country your going which is why there is 2 models of the Nexus 5.
If it does support the frequencies of the carrier over seas then it will work though.

Thank you, Paul for the prompt response. How can I find the frequencies the Nexus 5 supports? Is this information readily available?

Just google the model number and the supported frequencies and you'll find them no problem.

I'll do that no worries.
