Is Koodo going bankrupt? Can anyone else explain why they have decided to steal my money out of my credit card 15 days before my bill is actually due?

I mean taking the money out 5 days before the bill is due makes SOME sense since it gives everyone the option to do something before the due date if something goes wrong.

Mind you most other companies seem to be able to take their money when the bill is due as opposed to a week or two before; but as I said, 5 days ahead of time makes SOME sense.

But 15 days? This smacks of a desperate need for money!

So I am concerned.

Maybe we should put out a donation box and pitch in a few pennies on Sunday to help Koodo out, or maybe we should run to the safety of a carrier that is less desperate for cash!

Oh, I forgot, there is no carrier that is less desperate for cash in Robelus land!

There is a sentence in the authorization agreement that you may be debited once the bill is generated..

And based on your staunch defence of Koodo's practices I am sure that you enjoy paying all your bills a half month before they are due.

Thus, as other companies slowly follow Koodo's trailblazing and offer you the choice of manual payments vs pre-authorized payments processed 15 days before your bills are due, you will cheer them on secure in your knowledge that their service offerings are fully compliant with the legislation imposed on them by the government and content as to your choice of vendor since they are as good or better than anyone else available in Canada!

Yeah!

Hi Bobo,

I would appreciate it if you took the time to read all of the comments on this thread... believe it or not, we are trying to point in you the right direction.

Again...

You can read the terms of agreement here (which you've agreed to by signing up for pre-authorized payment):

http://koodomobile.com/en/on/pad-term...

Specifically "Your KOODO MOBILE bill will show the amount and date of each debit once the pre-authorized debit becomes effective."

Has this not been the case? If so, Koodo would of have violated their agreement and you certainly have the right to complain.

I would recommend calling Koodo at your earliest convenience.

You can reach Customer Service at 1-866-99-KOODO (1-866-995-6636) or 647-788-4337.

I'm not defending Koodo for the sake of defending Koodo but it is frustrating how often consumers blame companies for user-error instead of taking accountability (re: coffee cup with 'CAUTION! HOT!).

(And for what it's worth, I typically pay my bills the moment I receive them... Why wait until the due date when I can just get the payment out of the way :) )

I will acknowledge that it is frustrating when people don't take accountability about their hot coffee; by the same token you may want to observe the difference in results between a McDonald's drive through person that hands you your coffee with two hands holding the cup from the bottom (the older Chinese lady at the drive through close to my home) vs the coffee cup you get handed by a drive through person who has a one hand overhand grip and is squeezing the top as they drop it in your car and your lap. For some reason, and even though I was laughing at the time of that original lawsuit, I am quite glad that McDonald's got sued a few years back and as a result reduced the temperature of their coffee.

Can you confirm you read the terms of agreement from Koodo?

Specifically, did your Koodo bill not show the amount and date of each debit once the pre-authorized debit became effective?

If not, I would recommend calling Koodo at your earliest convenience.

If you want to choose when you pay your bill then it's probably best to not have set up preauthorized payments, that way you can choose exactly when you give them the money you owe them.

Seriously: no problem re: deleting the "swear post". It wasn't a direction I was seeking to go!

Ok done :D And now off to report myself for violation of Koodo's rules for Mobile Masters :D

But seriously thank you Bobo for doing the right thing. We're all honest and definitely not blind to the shortcomings of Koodo and the cell industry in general, heck I have several nasty thing to say myself. But we try to do it without actually typing out the words we think ;)

Pffeewww maybe they'll allow me to stay then :) As per your post below, please don't think I suggested a general clean up! Just the one itty bitty post with naughty bits. If you guys are happy discussing the moralities of Koodo I'd be the LAST to put a stop to that ;)

Absolutely I have a choice. I can either allow Koodo to take my money out half a month early, or I can sit there and worry about paying their bill on time, and log in manually to either my bank, or the Koodo web-site to make my payment.

Koodo also had a choice. They could chose to not fart around with their customers' money and pre-authorized payments, or they could chose to fart around with them and get their invoices collected a half month early. The second choice probably improved some quarterly result and got a smart manager a nice bonus. And incidentally your and my money in their pockets a half month early.

I also have another choice: take it up *oops, correction*, somehow indicate my displeasure, or say nothing.

Admittedly, it is obvious that the issue is of very little concern to the Koodo Community, or at least the portion of the Koodo Community that participates in these forums, which I am sure vindicates the bonus earner's judgment!

I do hope he chokes on his steak though (in a non permanent way, just a little choking while snorting some red wine the wrong way, but with a full recovery).

Anyway, Paul and Peter, and Chad, while I appreciate your opinion that Koodo is perfectly within its moral and legal rights to behave like they are behaving, I disagree and maintain that morally (and probably legal) they have half to, at most, three quarters of a leg to stand on.

As to Sophia's interjection that a clean up is required, I am all for it and regret the transgression.

With that I return you all to your regularly scheduled programming.
