The ruling doesn't take effect until the end of this year.

So Koodo isn't jumping ahead of the date to do the right thing and waive the fees

There are plenty of alternatives already available Warreynolds. The unlock market is very competitive with lots of small businesses offering their services. Until December that is.

Curious Warreynolds, have you heard and confirmed of any Canadian Carrier doing the so called right thing and jumping ahead to waive the fees ahead of schedule?

December 1st 2017 is what the Commissioned has targeted as date.

So, as an official Koodo rep, tell me Koodo has jumped ahead of the other service providers and is waiving the fees to unlock customer phones.

If they were, why on earth would they tell you? They have absolutely nothing to gain.

On the French side of this forum, a Koodo employee is not only telling people that unlocking will be charged but that it must be done through Koodo according to the contracted terms of service.

Obviously this is not something that can be "policed", since most people will use an independent service, but shows you where the telco's hearts are on customer service.

Karl is not saying it can only be done via Koodo Bob. :-)

Since the ruling doesn't take effect until the end of the year, the telcos will make their unlocking money while they can. As would any business in a similar situation.
