Is it possible to change a mobile company without changing the phone number?

Hi~ I have a monthly plan with another mobile company. Is it possible to sign up a plan with Koodo without changing the phone number? Or must I pick up a new phone number in order to have a plan with Koodo? Thank you very much!

You can keep your number and bring it to koodo no worries. Justmmake sure the account that the number is attached to right now is active and visit your local Koodo kiosk and ask them to port your number to Koodo and set up an account with koodo. If the number is from an account you've already closed then it's not possible andyyou'd have to choose a new number though.

The phone number is active and I am just using it on my own device. I find the phone plans with Koodo are very attractive and I want to sigh up one using my current phone number. Thanks for your reply!

Hi Huajing,

If you want to keep the old phone number from your current service provider you can simply port the number over to Koodo. Even if you are on prepaid or a monthly plan you would need your account number from your service provider to help Koodo bring the number over, also make sure that your account is active when doing so. The easiest way to port your number would be to go to the nearest Koodo kiosk or retailer.

You can absolutely do this! The process is called 'porting'. As long as your current number is still active and in good standing with your current mobile company, you can port this to Koodo no problem.

All you have to do is head to a Koodo store and inform the staff you'd like to port your current number. You will need to have the account number of your current mobile company. Please also ensure that you are the account holder.

The porting process typically takes between 20 min - 2 hours. Once the port is complete, this will automatically cancel your service with your current mobile provider. Please make sure to review your contract and see if any cancellation charges would apply.

NOTE: If you have a unlocked device, all you'll need to do is put in the new Koodo sim card in the phone. If you don't you, will need to purchase a device from Koodo (or a unlocked device from anywhere else).
