Is Buying iPhone 6s from Apple Store instead better?

I currently have an iPhone 5s from Koodo with my tab paid off. I want to get the iPhone 6s now but not with tab since it's at least 15 extra dollars added onto my plan every month. THe retail price is still in the $900 range for it at Koodo but to buy unlocked at the Apple Store it's cheaper in the $700 range. So would I be better off just buying it from the Apple Store and putting my iPhone 5s SIM card into it? Also, would I still get to keep my current monthly Koodo plan that way?

Based on your analysis, yes, buy direct from Apple. You can simply switch your SIM, as you surmised.

You would also keep your plan if you opted for the tab so long as you didn't do tab large or have a plan that's at least 40 a month for medium or 35 in QC.

Buying from Koodo does have one benefit - spreading out your payment over 24 months. The drawback is that your phone is locked, but you can have it unlocked later by Koodo if you pay the $35 unlocking fee.

If you'd rather spend the money upfront, buying from Apple is the better choice.

And no matter where you go, you'll be dealing with Apple if you have any warranty issues (i.e. no need to have Koodo send out your device - you can go to the Apple Store).

Not sure where you see apple selling the iPhone 6s for $700. It's listed at $899 on their Canadian site. If you want pay the price up front you would save $16. If you want to spread out the cost then using the tab maybe a better option for you. It's free financing.
Hey Bernard,

Can I upgrade my phone in the Apple store? I know the Apple store allows people to upgrade on a tab for Telus, Rogers and bell but I don’t know if you guys are partnered for it!
