Got the new Galaxy S6 tonight and was wondering if anyone knew how to get rid of that god awful shutter noise when you snap off a picture?

If it like the Galaxy Note 4 which chances are it is then you can't turn it off, the best you can do is to turn the ringer volume down to vibrate or silent before taking the picture.

1. Open the camera app.
2. Tap the settings icon. (It looks like a gear).
3. Toggle shutter sound to off.

Is that on the S6? I'm reading that that there is no option to turn off the shutter sound or change it on the S6 just like the Note 4 Rikkster.

These are the only options that pop up when you tap the gear icon / settings

AT&T Note 4's have the ability to silence the shutter sound. Maybe it's somehow country-specific.

Yeah Note 4. I'm hearing it's a law now in some places that makes it so Camera's have to make a sound and can't be disabled & was guessing Canada was one of these places since the OP can't seem to find it and the Canadian Note 4 doesn't seem to have the option either.
Would love to hear if you found it Jerry and if it does or doesn't have the option.

Hey guys! I've checked online everywhere and user manual/settings. Can't get it turned off. I think it is in fact law or something now.

Hi Gerry, from what I can tell it is a law to have the noise if you are in America, but Canada has no such law at the moment. I found 3 ways of turning off the shutter. One is to set the phone to silent mode, then take the picture. Silent mode should stop the shutter sound, but is anoying switching the phone in and out of silent mode just to take a picture.
Second is to download something that modifies the settings in the ROM. Something like CyanogenMod. Third is to download an app to control the shutter sound, something like Uva Silent Camera. This post from a few years back describes it:
