Sure you can. You can upgrade to any phone you want any time you want by paying the difference between the price of the new phone and any available Tab you have built up.

The advantage now is you can get a higher subsidy by taking the Tab Medium or Large to offset the upfront cost. Tab Small is unchanged at a $150 max subsidy but now they'll make a 15% contribution instead!

On Tab M, you can get up to $300 off your phone and you can keep your existing plan if it's above $30 (or take one of the newer plans) and then add $5 for a Tab charge each month. 15% contribution still applies.

Don't bother with Tab L. 15% contributation but a Tab charge of $10 added each month + base plans are $65/month so it's way too expensive to justify the subsidy.

The 4S is no longer available, but have you looked at the Nexus 4 at all? It's leaps and bounds better than the iPhone 4 already and much, much cheaper at only $300 versus $700 for the iPhone 5. I don't know if you are an Apple enthusiast and have other products or items bought from the Apple store, etc. but in my opinion, it's not worth the price of admission.

Also keep in mind that for new Tabs, any balance remaining after 24 months is waived for CRTC compliance.
